Chapter 2 - Steve's Fake Family and Background

The next morning, in a bedroom of a fancy house...

Steve was laying down on the bed, sleeping peacefully. Suddenly, a voice tried to wake him up.

[My lord! Wake up! I have completed your request!]

Steve opened his eyes, sat up, and yawn. He covered his mouth with his right hand. "Okay, give me all the information you made on me and my background."

[Yes, my lord.]

Name: Steve Cargill

Age: 10

Race: Human

Monster tamer cultivation: Stage 1

Spirit power: 471

Talent: Level 9

Special ability: unknown

Background: The youngest son of the Cargill family. Due to his extreme intelligence and talent as well as the fact that he had already awakened his spirit power at the age of 9, he has skipped 5th grade and will be going to 6th grade, the grade where most of the people awaken their spirit power. Goes to Silveredge Academy.

"That's all you have?" Steve asked.

[No, no, of course not, my lord. I just didn't want to bother you with all the other unnecessary information and if you ever need them I'll just tell you right at that time. I have alternated the memory of other people as well as the database of your profile so you don't have to worry about all that. Also, I am only allowed to change the memories of people once. I cannot change the memory again.]

Steve nodded. Steve was about to ask the system where the school was, but someone knocked on the door.

"Come in," Steve said.

The door opened, and a middle aged man came in some clothes in his hand. He bowed politely and said, "Young master, it is time for you to wake up and go to school."

Steve decided to ask the system with his mind since he thought that he shouldn't look strange in front of other people.

[His name is Anthony. He is the head butler of the Cargill family. After discovering your talent, he was assigned to you.]

"Leave the clothes there, Anthony. I will change myself," said Steve.

"Yes, young master," said Anthony. He put the clothes down next to Steve, and bowed. He then walked out of the room and closed the door.

Steve told the system with his mind.

[Yes, my lord. Here you go.] The ball of light became brighter, and Steve closed his eyes as many images and memories appeared. After a while, the ball of light when back to its original brightness. After some time, Steve opened his eyes.

Steve complimented the system. He felt that the system did a really amazing job of creating false memories.

[Thank you, my lord.]

Steve got down from the bed and took the clothes that Anthony had placed on the desk next to his bed and changed into them. After about a minute, he walked to the door and opened it. Anthony was outside of the door waiting for him.

"This way, young master," said Anthony, bowing and holding his hand out and pointing to the right of the door. Steve nodded and walked through the hall to the stairs and then down the stairs, with Anthony following close behind. When Steve got to the bottom of the stairs, he went into and through the hallway and then to the dining room. When he opened the door, he saw 10 people sitting at the long table inside the room.

"Steve! You're finally here!" said the oldest man of the group. "Come, sit down and eat."

Steve nodded and walked to the table. A butler who was next to the table pull out the chair and motion for Steve to sit down. Steve sat down on the chair and the butler pushed the chair in. The butler put down a plate, a fork, a knife, and a napkin in front of Steve. Steve took the fork and ate.

"Steve, you are already a tier 1 monster tamer but you are only using 2 copper quality 5 stars monsters. Do you want to use a bronze quality monster instead?" the oldest man said.

Steve shook his head. "I am fine with my current monster card, father. I am used to using that monster, and I think I would be better off with a familiar copper quality monster card than an unfamiliar bronze quality monster card."

"That is true," said Adger. "Then would you like to pick a bronze quality monster and start to get familiar with it first while using the 2 copper quality monsters in public?"

"It is fine," said Steve, shaking his head. "I would like to catch my own monsters."

"Well, if that's what you want," said Adger.

15 minutes later...

"Steve! Remember to take care of your little sisters," said Adger.

"I will," said Steve, walking out of the house.

"I can protect myself!" a girl complained. "I'm a peak stage 0 monster tamer! I'm about to break through to stage 1! And I have a copper quality 2 stars monster!"

"Calm, down, Charlene," said the girl next to her. "Father is just worried about us. Besides, brother has 2 copper quality 5 stars monsters and he's almost at the peak of stage 1 monster tamer. He's much stronger than us."

"I know," said Charlene. "But I don't want to always rely on my brothers and sisters."

"It's fine," said Charlotte. "It's okay to rely on them. Isn't that what families are for?"

"Yeah," said Charlene, beginning to refute. "But-"

"Are you two coming or not?" Steve interrupted, his arms crossed and looking at them from a distance.

"Of course, of course!" Charlene shouted back at Steve. She grabbed Charlotte's hand and ran towards Steve. "Let's go, Charlotte."

When they reached Steve, Steve took out a card from his pocket. He tapped his forehead with the card and said, "Come out, Uni." A ball of bright white light came out from the card and it turned into a beautiful pure white horse. It looked like a horse, but it was actually the Unicorn that Steve had obtained from his first lottery draw. The Unicorn just hid her horn per Steve's instructions. Uni was the Unicorn's nickname that the system had created for the Unicorn in Steve's memories. Steve complained to the system with his mind, putting the card in his pocket.

[I'm really sorry, my lord. This makes it easier for people to access their spirit power and transfer them to the card. Monster tamers usually don't require doing that after they reach stage 6, but most monster tamers still do it after that tier because it's much quicker and easier to access their spirit power and summon out their monster in case of emergency situations. I can't change that! Please forgive me!]

Steve asked the system. He then ignored the system and helped Charlene get on Uni. He offered his hand to Charlotte, and Charlotte looked at him for a few seconds before accepting it and getting on Uni with Steve's help.

"Hold up," said Steve. He then took out another card from his pocket and tapped his forehead with it. "Come out, Leon." A ball of bright white light came out from the card and a human sized chameleon appear. The chameleon was the Phantom Chameleon that Steve had obtained on his second lottery draw. The Phantom Chameleon was actually much larger, but had shrinked himself down to only 5 feet long because of Steve's instructions. Like Uni, Leon was the nickname that the system had made for the chameleon in Steve's memories. Steve jumped onto Leon.

"Let's go," said Steve. Uni and Leon both started running at an extremely fast past.

"Brother, I've always wondered this for a long time. Why does Uni and Leon run at the same speed? Shouldn't Uni be much faster than Leon?" asked Charlene.

"That's because I told them to run at the same speed," said Steve. "What, you want to leave me behind using my monster?"

This left Charlene in a bit of an awkward position. She actually had thought about going way faster than Steve and then leaving him behind. It was only for a few seconds, but the important thing is that she actually thought about it. "I..."

"I was just joking with you," said Steve. "Don't take it too seriously."

"O- okay," said Charlene.

"We're here," said Steve. He commanded Uni and Leon to stop. They were in front of a massive fence that surrounded a tall building. There was a large open gate in the fence at the front of the building. There were a few people guarding the gate. Steve got down from Leon and helped Charlene and Charlotte get off of Uni. He took out 2 cards from his pocket and said, "Return." Leon and Uni turned into 2 balls of white light that each got into one of the two cards.
