Chapter 1351 - 1350. Tenacity of Beashaz

With the agreement of the Soul's ego, Seth began his work. Before anything else. Seth to out his soul engraver to enchant Pithra's Soul. The enchantment he had already chosen earlier was the legendary enchantment of Durability, Strength, and Endurance he had once managed to learn by studying a broken shield from Spatia.

By enchanting the soul with it, all three set items would share the rise in durability, at the cost of the stats being split between them. It was not really a problem, as the stats were just a small additional gain in addition to the durability.

Of course, he had also thought of simply using three souls, so he could imbue all three with even better durability. He may have done so if Pithra's soul had not been an even better fit than he expected. The chance to get synergies between the soul and the prayer bead was too tempting to pass up for some flimsy raise in stats.

Although the legendary enchantment of durability didn't sound like much compared to more high-profile effects, it was nonetheless a legendary enchantment. it took Seth quite some time and effort to engrave the soul with the complicated circuit, but it wasn't the biggest challenge in the project. Soon, he was done with the enchantment and could continue with the next step.

The method to stretch apart a soul, so he could use one for several items, was not new to the blacksmith anymore. Having become more skilled in it, he was able to do so without putting any greater strain on the life essence he had just enchanted.

With three equal parts, only connected by a small tether, he started shaping the first, using Charon's Obol and wearing his Wraithguard, the gauntlet that improved his handling of souls. The process of enlarging and forging the soul like metal was well practiced, and the first part soon took on the shape of a ring, embedded with a tear-shaped pearl.

In a similar manner, the second part took on the shape of a smooth ring band, embedded with a stone along the ring. Owing to the complexity of the pendant Seth and Sivri had designed, the third part became a little more finicky.

Seth had to replicate the structure of the pearl on an axle, held by two rings. Even when he was able to enlarge the soul to work on it, it took the blacksmith a while to even come up with a way to do it. After all, he could not separate or grind away parts.

He felt a little like the glassblowers in documentaries he had seen when he was younger. The manner in which they stretched and pulled the heated or partially molten glass into complicated shapes. It was similar to his conundrum and ultimately gave him the inspiration he needed.

Similar to them, he could stretch and pull the soul and reconnect it to itself; he just couldn't cut it. Seth ended up shaping the irregular bead with the axle sticking out from its poles first, leaving a big lump on one end of the soul.

When the pearl was done, he shaped this lump into four limbs, which he welded back to the other side of the axle, creating the rings that held the sphere. The most difficult part was the distribution of mass. When he got that, he just had to shape the rings to properly mirror their corporeal twin.

Taking a deep breath and wiping the sweat off his forehead, Seth let himself fall back into a chair to take a small break. Forging the third part of the soul into a replica of the pendant was most probably the hardest time he had forging a soul... but he was not rewarded for his effort.

It had been some time since he reached lv.9 of , but his proficiency was still over a quarter away from the next level-up. Seth was really curious what the max.lvl would enable him to do, but it was not time yet.

After a short break and a little snack, Seth felt energized and ready to continue. There was only one step left in the making of these accessories. He had to infuse the souls into the actual items and baptize them in the waters of Styx to allow Pithra to be reborn as an item set.

Cracking his neck and muscles, the blacksmith got to it. Unlike the forging of the pendant, the infusion of the three parts into the two rings and the pendant could hardly compare to the hardest time he had when infusing a soul into an item.

There were actually two occasions he could think of one being infusing a soul into cloth, the other being the creation of the durable Olympian bronze for Hellion's armor skin. The latter was probably the worst, but he had little memory left of the ordeal. That's just how tired he was afterward.

Back in the present, Seth had no problem infusing the three soul parts into the three parts of the item set. Once that was done, they found their way into the bubble of water, that were the upgraded Waters of Styx.

And then, finally, he heard the magic words.

x3

The first three were somewhat expected, but the blacksmith had not expected the set would end up becoming a magnum opus. Seth didn't feel like he had invested much innovation or a great deal of skill into the set. It had to be the combination of materials.

After being momentarily distracted by the announcement, Seth couldn't wait to appraise the finished accessories. Taking them from the bubble of Styx, he placed the shiny new jewelry on the workbench. The first item his trailed over was the ring with the Pearl of Sai.

A dereliction of a legendary item. The ring is part of a Magnum Opus of Master Smith, the first Master Blacksmith and Master Enchanter of Urth. Using mysterious means and elusive skills partially beyond mortal power, he has managed to reforge a legend. >

He had not unfurled the set effects, as he wanted to look at all the items first, before spoiling himself, but before he could take a closer look at the various effects, his attention was caught by the last thing he read.

A dereliction? His mind got stuck on the flavor text. He read over it several times, because there was something that didn't sit right with him. The system text made it out as if what he did was something that was not supposed to be possible.

Seth had been worried because of the difference between a legendary item and legendary materials. One was quite literally materials that were supposed to be processed, but the other was a finished item that attained the legendary status due to the legend it accrued.

A legend was usually tied to the item... Then he realized what he had missed. "Means and skills beyond MORTAL power". It had to be something to do with his Path to Legend! That was why he managed to accomplish an incredible feat without really noticing!

The Legendary Forger was able to save the legendary pattern of materials and items he worked with if he had the corresponding skill. If he ever became a legend, he would be able to use these like enchantments, or so the description said.

Currently, he needed a load of Power of Existence to do something like that. But the point was that he was able to copy their legendary effects and copy them independently from the original. If he could do that, then changing the shape of an existing item without losing the effect had to be a passive he had not known, yet.

At least this was his theory so far. If this were really true, it was a revelation. A minor one, but a revelation. It meant he was able to reforge existing legendary items without the cost of PoE. The question was how useful it would be in the future, but if he was right, it had already shown its worth today.
