Chapter 958 - Vital Spirit

Axel stood at a stage made by the tribe members and looked at the front with his head straight and his chest puffed. He was looking at 150 tribe members of the Primeape tribe. All of them were at least at elemental rank or pseudo-king rank. Most of them had recently ranked up during the previous hunt.

It was surprising to see that with only 400 tribe members, 150 of them were at least elemental rank. Obviously, a tribe of 400 members was like a drop in the bucket. The Bisharp tribe, which had lost more than 90% of their members in the past, still had more than 1000 members currently.

Axel had promised to train the members of Primeape tribe. But he had a condition. They should at least be at elemental rank. Axel was not going to give his time training them from the beginning.

But looking at only 150 tribe members who had fulfilled his requirements, he didn't know what to say. There were very few members. He wanted the Primeape's tribe to become someone who could be recognized by God Nedes in the future. So, he wanted to train as many members as possible.

"First of all, each of you will train in only one type of weapon. It might be a shield, a sword, a spear, or even your bare hands. I have talked with the blacksmith to make a gauntlet. Don't worry, you will know what it means.

I will give you a day to think about it. After that, you cannot change your weapon. So, think carefully before making the choice."

With years of experience, the Primeape tribe had developed ways to use the various types of weapons. But they were not as developed as the training manuals that Axel had. Also, one of the problems that he noticed was that they were not stable in only using one type of weapon.

Sometimes they used swords, sometimes they used spears and sometimes they used shields.

Axel believed that no one could master all types of weapons. They need to focus on one of them. So, that was his first command.

"After you select a weapon, I will give you a training manual regarding that weapon."

Gasps and shocks came out of the tribe member's mouths. They had already heard how advanced Axel's training manuals were. These training manuals were a secret of Axel, and now he was giving them for free?

It looked like Axel had really thought to invest in the tribe.

"My second command is that everyone should aim to evolve to Annihilape."

This statement was more shocking than before. Everyone knew that their evolution was more of a curse than a blessing. They had seen the only Annihilape in the tribe, and it looked creepy as hell.

Noticing their reactions, Axel decided to clarify.

"If you are thinking that evolving to Annihilape will make you different or crazy, then you are wrong. I have done intense research, and if you follow my research, you will not have any problems.

If you still don't believe me, then Garry, my friend, is also going to evolve into Annihilape very soon. You can confirm with it."

After hearing and knowing that Axel was investing so much in the tribe, they believed him. It was not only the evidence that Axel provided but also their instinct. They felt that they could trust him.

"Now, evolving to Annihilape is not easy. First of all, all of you will stop taking those medicines that help you sleep. Instead, you will train your ability 'Vital spirit' to the limit."

Axel's stance was clear. If Garry and the other 5 Primeapes could do it, why can't you do it too?

Being a warrior tribe, they had their pride, but all of them knew that their life was going to be difficult from now on.

After that, Axel provided many insights on how they should train and what they should focus. It might be due to the environment, as all of them had a solid foundation. So, all of them had the potential to reach higher ranks.

###

Axel had already looked at the status page of Primeape. It had not only learned the move 'Rage fist' but also evolved its 'Vital spirit'. The evolution perfectly aligned with what he had hoped for.

Vital spirit (Mastered): The user can freely control its sleep pattern and which makes its sleep perfectly under its control. The stamina of the user has also increased, and now it requires less sleep.

Vital Spirit (Evolved): The user can control and store rage and manipulate it.

The mastered version had opened a realm of possibilities for Garry. The effect was not so miraculous, but Axel noticed that it was improving.

While the evolved ability only had one sentence, it changed a lot of things. This was what Annihilape had told him to achieve for Garry, and now it finally had.

So, what was stopping it from evolving to Annihilape.

"Garry, you must master the move 'Rage fist' as soon as possible. I believe that after it reaches level 40, you can finally evolve."

To evolve to Annihilape, it not only had to control its rage, but it also had to use the move 'Rage fist' multiple times.

How many times?

Even Annihilape didn't know, as it was different for everyone, but he got interesting information from it.

The more damage that the 'Rage fist' could cause, the more powerful Garry would become after the evolution. This had been mentioned in their clan records.

At first, Axel wanted Garry to use a minimum amount of rage repeatedly and evolve, but now he had a different view.

"Garry, you not only need to upgrade the quantity of rage inside your body but also need to increase its quality. First, you will develop 'Rage fist' to cause as much destruction as possible. Then we will think of using it many times with the same destructive impact."

Unlike other moves, 'Rage fist' was hard to use multiple times. Because the move not only consumed infinity energy but also the rage and anger that had been built up by Garry.

Fortunately, after the ability evolved, Garry now had the power to store the rage inside its body. But it could only store a limited amount of it. Also, as per Annihilape, the power of rage varied depending on how it was used. It was a strange concept for Axel, but he could understand it somehow.

Having a low capacity to hold the power of rage was indeed a problem that they were facing right now, and as per Annihilape, it took time to increase the quality and quantity of rage.

As Axel was thinking of a solution, he saw Togekiss training its existing moves. Then he came up with a brilliant idea.

What if Garry also created a move similar to 'Fairy Clone' and let Togekiss seal it in one of its empty seals? The seal would not only improve the power of the clone but also increase the quality and quantity of rage.

And during the time of evolution, Garry would just have to use the power of that clone. Theoretically, all of it made sense.

"Hmm, let's do it."

Axel explained his plan to Togekiss and Garry. Togekiss didn't have any problem using one of the seals for its team members. It had a lot of empty seals right now, and they were not being used. Also, 100 seals were a lot.

But for that to happen, Garry had to learn the move similar to 'Fairy Clone'. Togekiss started to tell the basics of it to Garry. The basics might be similar, but it was not exact. Fairy type energy and fighting type energy were inherently different. Also, Garry was trying to use rage energy, which was a variant of fighting energy.

So, Axel expected Garry to take some time to create the move. But he was surprised to see that it had done it in just a few days.

"How? How did you do it so easily?", asked Axel.

As per Garry, it just felt natural to create this move. It already knew the move 'Substitute'. So, that also helped it a lot.

But the move clearly needed a lot of upgrades. First of all, the clone was not as conscious as Togekiss's 'Fairy clone'. It could follow commands of Garry, but the commands must be to the letter, and it could not think of its own.

Also, the clone could gather fighting type energy, but regarding the rage energy, it had very low mastery. Since the clone didn't have a lot of emotions, it didn't seem to have any rage.

Its mastery of other moves was also severely lacking compared to what Axel had expected.

"Garry, not only will you train in 'Rage fist', rage energy, and also 'Rage clone' that you have just created, but you will also train in other moves.

You will give four hours a day training in other moves, and then you will train in 'Rage fist', rage energy, and 'Rage clone'."

Axel could already tell that mastering 'Rage fist', rage energy, and 'Rage clone' was going to take a few months. It might even take a year. So, if Garry only concentrated on these three moves, its mastery of other moves would lack a lot, and he didn't want that to happen.

###

Axel was correct about Weezing. It could not train for 24 hours a day. If it had been able to do that, then it would have become really broken. Even though they had two heads and two brains, they only had one body and the body needs rest.

But one thing that made him happy was that even with one body, its training time had increased a lot. The problem of mental strain had totally vanished after having two heads and two brains.

It had now gotten used to its new form, and now it was time to train it.

Axel realized that it sorely lacked mastery in poison type moves. Since his Koffing had mainly trained in other moves like 'Psybeam' and 'Dark pulse' to defeat the shiny Koffing, its mastery over poison type moves was not so great.

Finaly, Lucario. It had just recently ranked up to pseudo-king rank after being trained by the god rank Lucario. It had a solid foundation, but it had a lot to learn. Axel had not made any training plans for it now because it needed to improve its move mastery.

What it lacked the most was battle experience. So, for the past months, Axel had told Lucario to spar with Primeapes every day. With this, its battle experience had increased, and now it was ready for the next stage of training.

As he completed the training plans for his Pokemon and also the tribe members, he moved to talk to Gorn, the leader of the Primeape tribe.

Axel had already informed Gorn about his meeting with it in the morning. So, when Axel arrived in its chambers in the evening, Gorn was ready.

"Gorn, how many Primeape tribes are here in the vicinity of this forest?"
