Yuan stared at the doors that fell open in contemplation. 'So the doors can open just like that? What about the password? And the light ball looks quite steady, even coming inside the shack?'
He gave a questioning look at Kael, who shrugged "That's how it usually goes. The guiding light guide the awakened into the council, and the book lights up to signal us" he nodded at the book Oryn was holding again. When Yuan looked over, the book was indeed glowing!
Yuan suddenly felt suspicious and asked carefully "So do characters usually go through some sort of an accident to awaken?"
"Mm, no? For me, I just had extra info in my brain after I woke up during the last chem period" he answered, giving Yuan an understanding look "don't tell me you got awakened like that…?"
"Argh, let's not talk about it" Yuan gave up, exasperated. 'So apparently he's the only one who went through a catastrophe just to awaken, and got abandoned in the middle by the guiding light, and had to figure out the password on his own? Seems like he got special treatment, ah? Does this light have anything against him or what? So this is where it probably ran away in the middle, to guide another character?'
"Hii, fancy seeing you guys here!" A lively voice sounded, interrupting Yuan's train of thoughts. Standing there was a blonde guy with a cheerful smile, looking bright and enthusiastic. Yuan suddenly felt that this guy would make the perfect model for a toothpaste advertisement.
The newcomer seemed perfectly at ease with the situation, unlike Yuan who had crawled there in a sorry state. Given his bearing, Yuan guessed that this must be a very important character. Could he be the second lead?
"I'm Lio" the newcomer continued to introduce himself.
"Welcome Lio, take a seat" Oryn said flipping through the book that was still faintly glowing.
"Hi Lio" both Kiro and Keal introduced themselves in turns, and despite being a newcomer himself, Yuan also went to join the fun after giving a strange look to the guiding light that slowly dissipated in an ethereal and orderly manner.
"Hi I'm Yuan, just got here a few minutes ago"
"Ooh, so you awakened today too? That's cool, we are twinning aren't we?" Lio enthusiastically slung a hand over Yuan's shoulder, not at all caring about his soiled clothes "which character are you?" Lio asked.
Yuan suddenly had a good impression of this fellow, of course it's not because of his beautiful smile, it's probably because he was a sunny guy. "Eh, I'm the…the…" Yuan was quite embarrassed, would his current image damage the reputation of the main character?
"He's the MC, the main character. He's got the most adventurous development among all of us" Kiro joined in, noticing his embarrassment "what about you?"
"Ooh, I see. It's about growing through trials right?" Lio nodded like a chicken pecking rice "Me, I'm the extra"
"Extra?" This time, even Keal was shocked, where does he look like an extra?
"Could he be the legendary extra that flips the script and defeat all the bigwigs to reach the pinnacle of life!" Yuan couldn't help being impressed. 'No wonder he got so much aura, turns out he's the trump card. He absolutely does justice to this role, no wonder he's so… extra'
"Mm, not like that I suppose. I'm the perfect background character, the one that's always there, you know. The reusable type" Lio winked, flashing another blinding smile.
"I highly doubt it" Yuan shook his head.
"Something is not quite right today" Oryn sat down with a sigh "The other character that was supposed to awaken today was the villain"
"There's a villain as well?" Yuan was starting to feel that things were not looking too good for him.
"Well, that's news for us too" Kiro said, while giving a small intro to Lio "the one who welcomed you earlier is Oryn, he's the scriptwr… holder" he wisely changed his words after sensing Oryn's piercing gaze.
"Let's wait for Tavi, we can view today's progress then"
Seeing the confused look of the two 'newcomers', Keal and Kiro took the responsibility of popularizing science.
Turns out that when all the awakened characters are gathered at the council, the script holder can view the plot for the upcoming day, while today's script will be updated accordingly to how they've performed during the day.
"So it shows the tasks for tomorrow, and we are supposed to act it out according to the script? That doesn't sound that hard" Lio sounded pretty excited.
"And it compares and rates our performance. Plot deviances are a strict no-no " Keal added "Earlier, the tasks were quite simple, nowadays they keep getting much harder. I hope we covered at least today's one"
Just then, a calm and steady voice sounded from the outside "OpenSesame123". And just as Yuan was watching, Kiro stepped forward and pulled the lock down once more, making the doors pull open.
'Mmm, so it's manual lock, except when the guiding light arrives' Yuan noticed thoughtfully.
Tavi had neatly combed black hair, and a pair of clear eyes and straight eyebrows, looking quite grounded. He carried a small notebook in his hand, heading inside with steady footsteps and closing the door behind him carefully.
Yuan suddenly felt that he looked quite familiar as well. 'How come he's feeling like this all the time today? Wait, the notebook! No wonder he's familiar, he's the committee member who has been on duty today!' Yuan didn't notice it for the first time because the shining badge was no longer there, but he's pretty sure he didn't mistake him.
And that's probably how they managed to take back the fire extinguisher! They had infiltrated the disciplinary committee from the inside!
After a simple introduction Tavi took a seat as well, looking quite exhausted. "Let's finish this quickly, today has been a long day. Remember to hand over the self-reflections by tomorrow, you guys have the structure I gave you last week right?" He added looking at Keal and Kiro.
"Yeah, Keal lost his, but we got mine. That should be fine" Kiro patted his pocket lightly.
"Then let's get started" Oryn stood up and dragged a nightstand to the center of the room, before placing the book on it. "All of you, take seats around this in a circle" he instructed and personally dragged some chairs, placing them around the nightstand. "Looks like we might need to add chairs"
"Ah right, I'll go find some" Yuan stood up, ready to drag some short chairs in the corner.
"I'll help" Lio offered, standing up as well.
