Chapter 4 - the quest - part 1

*You have accepted the quest.*

*You will be teleported shortly.*

"Wait, I haven't even had breakfast yet!"

Sern feels as if his consciousness is slowly lulled to a halt before opening his eyes in the middle of a small village's road.

*Welcome, host. To the beginner area*

Sern quickly scanned his surroundings and saw a few villagers. Some of them were strolling around. Some were actively working, and a singular beggar was begging for any kind of scrap. Apart from that, there was a small mob screaming about the food shortage.

Sern quickly realized that he needed to go there as soon as possible. So he passed through a few of the villagers and reached the end of the crowd, where a well-dressed man was trying to quell the mob's anger.

Sern decided to speak to the man, "Hello? Excuse me, I was passing by and wanted to know what the commotion was."

"The carriage that was supposed to transfer fresh food has been late for a few days now! So now the townsfolk are getting angry at me for some reason! Say, are you quite possibly an adventurer? I promise I'll make it worth your time!"

"I guess I am considered one? What do you want me to do?"

*The man could jump in excitement, but he held his excitement, cleared his throat, and continued speaking*

"Please investigate why the carriage has been delayed for so long! You should head down the east road. That's where it usually comes through."

"Understood! I'll trust that you will make this worth my time."

And with that, sern swiftly ventured towards the east road.

*Quest received: Investigate the missing food carriage.*

The road was empty. Sern couldn't even hear anything apart from his own heartbeat. He had watched enough movies to learn that silence never led to a good event. Nevertheless, he carried on.

An hour later, the road he took led into a vast forest. And then... Sern discovered the carriage. It was destroyed. Sern understood that the carriage was attacked by the pools of blood in the ground.

He saw a single sword lying in a pool of blood. Abandoned. Sern took the sword for self-defense.
