"I wish for your safe travel back home." the librarian said with a bow, and without further notice she slammed the door behind her back.
The three youngsters started walking away from the library, in aching pain.
"The book didn't said anything about falling 10 ft to the ground." Shaine groaned, she was walking in a slow pace while holding her back in pain.
Elly and Abby was doing the same thing while slightly chuckling to each other.
"We even landed on top of each other."
Abby chuckled as her right shoulder started to ache making her hiss in pain.
"And we couldn't find anything." a sigh left Elly's mouth, he's in disbelief and rather disappointed for the outcome of their visit.
With a small hop and twirl Shaine faced Elly, her finger at the tip of his forehead and with a small force she flicked his forehead and let out a small chuckle, "Don't be so down Elly, it's not like we can only visit for today. We can try again tomorrow." she stated.
"But we have training tomorrow." Abby said with her head slightly tilted, with that being said, Shaine turned her back from both of them and suddenly got down on her knees, her body slowly shake and she had her hands gripping tightly on her hair.
"I completely forgot," Shaine stated in a dejected tone.
Elly and Abby chuckled and patted Shaine's shoulders. "Come on, it's not that bad," Elly said with a rather cheeky smile.
Shaine got up on her feet, crossing her arms and letting out a "hmp". She replied, "Yeah right, try being someone else's punching bag and shooting target."
"Well, try being someone's training dummy," Elly countered with a dull smile and eyes shifting away.
Both of them sighed at the same time. 'Why must it be me? ' they both thought. 'On the other hand,' they continued and turned to Abby, who smiled with confusion written all over her face. Both turned their backs on Abby and once more let out a sigh, 'She got a kindhearted and gentle mentor.'
Abby let out a chuckle and clung to Elly's and her sister's arms. "Let's go home," she happily said and pulled them along with her.
As the three walk down the streets, the clock tower of the kingdom chimes as it strikes five. The sky was painted in beautiful colors of yellow, pink, orange, and red; slowly the stone lampposts started to glow, giving the light for the citizen to see.
"I think there's a night market today," Shaine announced, looking at the stalls lined up, each with different products to sell. "These night markets almost feel like the summer festival back home," Abby added with a smile.
"Shall we?" Elly asked, his eyes reflecting his exhaustion, and yet they glint with a hint of excitement. The two looked back at him and nodded gleefully.
The noises coming from the children running around and the bustling sound of people buying products and merchandise filled the air, along with the savory scent of meat being grilled. It indeed feels like a festival. Like the festival they have back home, very familiar yet different.
After a few minutes of walking around here and there, looking around shops and snacking on grilled meat, the three finally made their way back to the inn. The bustling sound of the night market slowly faded and was replaced by the gentle sound of crickets playing their tune.
The sky was lit up by an uncountable number of colorful stars; the sun had officially set, and the moon was shining brightly tonight.
"Finally back," Shaine said, yawning while stretching her arms in the air. Puffs of smoke were coming out of the inn's chimney, meaning that it's almost dinnertime, and the stone lights flickered through the night.
Elly opened the main door for his cousins, and they were greeted with Zari at the front desk. "Welcome back you three," she said with a cheerful smile.
Shaine skipped towards the desk. "Is it dinner time?" she asked with a big, toothy smile.
Zari chuckled and patted her head. "It is for the boarders, so get going to the kitchen and help out," she said, which made Shaine pout but did make her way to the kitchen.
"Can we be of assistance?" Elly asked, earning a no from Zari.
"No need, Rene is more than enough. You can go up to your rooms now; I'll call if we ever do need help," Zari expressed with a smile.
With a nod, both Abby and Elly went up to their own rooms and both lay flat on their beds.
Abby stared blankly at the wooden ceiling; her room was lit up by the moon's bright rays going through her glass window. The stone lamps didn't light up as bright as they should be and only let out a small flickering glow.
Elly, on the other hand, tossed and turned until he faced the wall; he stared at it blankly and let out a sigh. Gradually standing up to make his way back down to the reception, looking for something to do to ease the tension welling up in his mind.
While down at the kitchen, Shaine was cutting some vegetables; she stared at the chopped carrots, and without realizing it, her hand accidentally slipped and instead made a cut on her finger. She hissed as she let go of the knife; the blood slowly slid out of her fresh wound.
"Are you okay, Rene?" Myr asked as she held Shaine's finger and rinsed it with clean water.
Shaine awkwardly chuckled, " I'm sorry about that," she said and continued to help out.
Unfortunately Shaine's mind was somewhere else as she keeps on making mistakes, she accidentally overcooked a meal, overseasoned a soup and even breaking one or two plates.
" Maybe you should take a break Rene, we'll take care of the rest." Myr said with worried.
" I'm sorry," Shaine replied, she looked down on her shoes and frowned, 'How can I make such mistakes in the kitchen?' she asked herself.
" It's okay, everything is already set up. We'll call you if it's time for dinner." Myr reassured as she gently pat Shaine's head.
With a nod Shaine walked up to her room not lifting her head, her steps were heavy and fast, her hands held her skirt tightly and her frowned not leaving her face.
As soon as she entered her room, she gently shut the door and lean on it. She let out a small sigh before slowly walking up to her bed. As she pushed herself on to the bed, the creaking sound of the wooden floor filled the small candle-lit room. She stares blankly on the walls seemingly counting the cracks on each plank wood.
She slowly shut her eyes and sighed, " I miss grandpa." she stated before drifting to a short nap.
