"I'm sorry about this Drew" Qiao suddenly said, his tone catching Drew off guard.
This wasn't the time to be apologizing. It wasn't the time for him to act like he finally understood where the warrior was coming from. This was the time to go separate ways without either of them hating each other, because if this continued, there would be so many risks.
"You don't have to apologize for the fragility of my heart. Just go on, be the prince that our kingdom needs. I promise no one will tell a soul about what just happened here. We'll just be a king and a subordinate.
"I'll tell everyone not to talk of this, and I'll tell Arya too when we get to the mission. You don't have to worry," Drew said defeatedly.
He had lost count of the times he had felt like he was alone in this bond. Or the times he wished Qiao would come and be the mate he needed. But then life wasn't always going to give him what he wanted, and he was slowly coming to terms with that.
