Chapter 25 - James warn tian

The classroom was quiet, filled only with the faint scratching of pens and the warm glow of afternoon sunlight. Tian's head rested against his desk, his breathing slow and even, as sleep gently claimed him in the middle of class.

Katie finished writing her notes and closed her book carefully, as if even the smallest sound might wake him. Almost without realizing it, her gaze drifted toward him.

He looked peaceful like this—unguarded, unaware. The sharp edges of her confusion softened as she watched him, her heart beating just a little faster than it should.

Yet, as she continued to look at him in silence, Katie understood the truth she was trying to deny—

this wasn't distance.

This was the quiet beginning of falling in love.

Tian leaned over slightly, his sharp eyes fixed on James. The classroom's quiet hum seemed to fade around them. "What do you want?" he demanded, his voice carrying a tension that made James instinctively shift in his seat.

James blinked, caught off guard by the intensity in Tian's gaze. His hands fidgeted with the open textbook in front of him, words blurring as he searched for an answer. "I… I just wanted to ask…" he stammered, unsure if he should finish.

Tian's stare didn't waver, and the air between them thickened with a mixture of challenge and frustration.

The classroom was bathed in soft afternoon light, dust floating lazily between the desks.

James stood firm, his warning still hanging heavy in the air, eyes sharp with concern rather than anger.

Tian stepped forward.

He didn't raise his voice.

He didn't need to.

Standing right in front of James, Tian met his gaze calmly, a faint smile touching his lips—not mocking, not loud, just confident. It was the kind of smile that came from certainty, not arrogance.

James felt it then.

Not a threat… but a declaration.

The room seemed smaller, the distance between them shrinking to nothing but unspoken truth. Tian said nothing more, yet his silence spoke clearly—he wasn't backing away, and he wasn't afraid.

Somewhere else, unseen , Katie remained the quiet center of the storm forming between them.

And this…

was only the beginning.

James stepped closer, voice low but firm.

James: "She's my one and only friend here. Don't hurt her. And don't say later I didn't warn you."

Tian looked at him quietly. Then he moved forward, standing right in front of James.

A small smile curved his lips—calm, confident.

Tian: "You don't need to worry."

James frowned.

James: "Don't be so sure of yourself."

Tian met his eyes, unshaken.

Tian: "I am. Because she chooses me."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The classroom felt heavier, like it was holding its breath.

James finally looked away, jaw tight.

James: "Then don't prove me wrong."

Tian didn't reply.

He didn't have to.....
