The next day, Blue brought Ivory along with him to work. -- she went to see the lines the Serapyhne made for the humans who didn't fight. Ivory had heard from Harley that at least 4 million died trying to fight off the Seraphyne and died trying to save themselves.
Harley laughed after she told Ivory the unsettling news and said that it was fine because it meant that those humans would be too problematic, and they most likely would have been killed off anyway.
Ivory walked behind Blue and saw a long line of people waiting to be given their review. The review was where each individual human was studied and given a position to serve in The Seraphyne world: The New Earth. Most were locked underground, waiting for their review and hadn't been summoned yet.
The Seraphyne walked around and pulled peoples records, deeming them worthy or unworthy of working in hospitals, schools, jails, or even in the bases. Those who weren't were given labor jobs and a small apartment or house, depending on if they lived alone or had a family. Or a spouse.
Next, they tested their IQs, anyone with a higher IQ no matter their job title was forced to breed, anyone who was physically attractive enough to The Seraphyne was forced to breed. They were pulled off the lines and put in cars that drove them to headquarters.
Ivory saw this with her own eyes; so many lines, tall and strong Seraphyne men walked with guns to ensure the humans stayed compliant -- the humans were smart enough to know that fighting with an alien wasn't smart.
Ivory noted that Blue was rather short for a Seraphyne man; he was more human in height.
Blue held her hand in his and the military sergeant was updating him on how everything was going. Most humans were forced into retail, customer service, and food service jobs; others were in businesses: technology, managers, supervisors, principals, government officials; the top were teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and breeders.
"What if a human is smart and attractive?" Ivory asked.
"Then they breed," The Seraphyne military man said.
"What if they're one and not the other?" she probed.
"Then they work, unless they have a high IQ, a good degree, or are physically okay," the military man answered.
Ivory nodded, she understood their procedure.
Ivory then noticed that The Seraphyne military had strange numbers on their shirts, above their right pockets. She remembered the tattoo that Blue had and realized that was their identification. number.
Suddenly, Red came over and tapped Blue on the shoulder. "Hey, boss, what about ladies for fun nights?"
Ivory sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I seriously need to get you a girlfriend," Blue said in a bored fashion.
"Come on, I have needs," Red shrugged and the The Seraphyne military sergeant laughed.
Blue chuckled. "I'll think about it."
"You had strip clubs and brothels, didn't you?" The Seraphyne military sergeant asked. "We can put that down. Orphan girls mainly or those that are too dumb for anything."
"I'll consider it. I need to sort them out first and have the best humans for selection. That's what I care about right now."
Red rubbed Ivory's shoulder and walked away.
"Is he like you?" Ivory asked. "You know, a ---- a Seraphyne?"
"No, and thank goodness he isn't," Blue rolled his eyes. "Don't say anything; as my wife, I feel compelled to tell you ---" Ivory leaned in. "I thought about having him and Harley marry each other; they're too aggressive. I might pair him with Lily."
Ivory shook her head and made a face.
"I said I thought about it. They're complete opposite and Lily will keep him tame. Like you and me," Blue pulled Ivory closer to him, "You and I are completely different; we can't fully be the same. Opposites attract."
Ivory nodded. "Well, you're the boss. It's whatever you decide."
Blue kissed her forehead. "Let me show you the human facilities. Where humans breed with the Seraphyne."
Ivory gulped. She was the most nervous for that part.
Ivory followed him as she took a glance at the humans --- many stared at her, because they knew she was one of them. Many looked at the floor, looked angry, many sobbed.
Ivory looked down in defeat, because she knew she wouldn't be of help to them unless she had death wish.
Ivory saw them for the first time when Blue brought her to one of the human facilities. He put his arm to a scanner and the scanner scanned his identification tattoo, and once he was cleared, they entered.
Ivory that expected suffering. Instead, she saw luxury.
The place resembled a 5-star hotel!
The rooms were beautiful, food was abundant, and the people were healthy.
At first glance, it looked like a paradise.
"They are treated well," Blue looked at Ivory through his sunglasses, "Because they are valuable. We need these humans to trust us and not want a reason to defy us; it is necessary for our evolution and advancement."
"What happens when they can no longer breed?" Ivory asked. "Or if they didn't want to?"
"They retire and get a nice home with benefits," Blue shrugged. "I treat those who are valuable to me well."
Humans walked through the halls wearing different clothing based on their assigned positions.
Scientists.
Workers.
Officials.
Families selected for compatibility.
Everything had a purpose, and everything had a category.
Ivory watched a young woman laugh with another person in the hallway. She looked happy.
But when Ivory looked closer, she noticed the cameras.
The guards. The restrictions. The invisible boundaries. They were still monitored to ensure that they were compliant humans -- just The Seraphyne lab rats.
A beautiful cage was still a cage.
