Chapter 5 - Something....Else

Upon arriving back in the village, I didn't head to the Mikaelsons. Seeing them hurt and in pain would only break me even more than I felt now, though I wanted to comfort Bekah and be there for my only friends since I've been in this world, I just couldn't.

I went straight home and decided tonight would be the night I finished my own unique immortality spell. This spell has been in development from the second my mother gave me access to the old family grimoires. I was trying to create a unique immortality, one more advanced than an original, Immortal or beast. With this spell I would have the physical abilities of an upgraded original and the advanced psychic abilities of an Immortal. Only problem is that a spell like that requires a large amount of magic and delves into the dark magic.

(' The spell is possible but the magic.....hmmmmmmm'....I would also be lacking the bite of and upgraded original, but I could probably do another ritual later')

As I was in deep thought I noticed Esther entered with a conflicted look on her face and dried tear marks on her cheek. She didn't spare me a glance as she and Ayana shared a look and both left the hut shortly after.

(' She'll likely ask mother to perform the Immortality spell which mother will undoubtedly deny...then the used to be witch that lacks years of practice is going to perform such an advanced spell. Sigh no wonder the spell was altered by the angered spirits. My spell needs to be perfect')

With that I also left the tent in search of a ingredient I would use for my spell. The blood of the only doppelganger I knew, Tatia. I hated her for what she did to my two friends stringing them on and creating a small rift between them. Even then she could careless. Those feelings in heart I found her near her hut weaving clothes, without blinking an eye, I used a spell and rendered her weak mind unconscious. I pulled out a small knife and made a cut on her main vein in her wrist and drained her of enough blood to perform two large spells without killing her.

I stopped her bleeding with a spell and walked away. Walking away I noticed Esther approach from another direction and taking the unconscious girl. I smirked and continued my walk back to my hut.

Arriving back at the hut, I quietly entered a found Ayana with a conflicted expression staring off into space. Knowing exactly what she was contemplating I put on the best smile I could.

" Mother" I said walking over.

She looked up at me and stood up. Before saying anything she pulled me into a hug.

"Henrik" was all she said as she tightened me in her hug.

I returned her hug and fought the tears that were swelling up.

"Yes, mother. That's why I need your help right now." I said breaking the hug and staring at her in the eyes.

"It seems that everyone is in need of my help lately." she said looking off to the side with another conflicted look.

I hugged her shortly once agan.

"Mother, I want to go on a warriors journey far away, but before that I would like to spell my grimoire to only our family."

"Hmmm , yes it's best if you were not in the village for the upcoming..... events. When will you return?"she said still looking off to the side.

"I'm not sure mother, but the spirits and my blade will guide me"

She now looked at me for a second before looking back off to the side. The hut was quiet for a moment before she broke the silence.

" Bring, the grimoire we will do it now."

I nodded and went to my bed, pulled it from under the wool blanket and walked back. Knowing what to do next I took a knife and pricked my finger and dropped a bit on the it's cover and handed it to her.

She took it and sat on the floor with her legs crossed and the grimoire infront of her. She took the knife and did the same dropping her blood on it the book cover. I sat before her and we held hand with the book in the middle.

We then started to chant in ancient Nordic " Koble blodkobling kjøtt, Koble blodkobling kjøtt, Koble blodkobling kjøtt." the blood started to soak in to the cover as if soaking in sponge and the once all black grimoire was now a dark red bordering on black.

We then sat in silence and looked at each other until she once again broke the silence.

" When do you leave my son?"

"Within the next few days I'm not sure" I say now looking down unto the floor visibly saddened. and how could I not, this village, Ayana, the Mikaelsons are all I know.

She nodded and got up and head to her makeshift potion table.

I stood up and went to my bed and slept as much as I could. The following night I was standing in the alchemy garden to the back of the hut. I picked almost all the sage in the relatively large garden. Sage is used to block supernatural eavesdropping and even interfere with the spirits. While I was picking the herbs, I could hear screams that thundered throughout the village. Recognizing the all too familiar screams of Nik I clenched my fist and bit down on my lip almost making it bleed .

('Either Nik is making his first transformation or Esther is using the ritual to seal his wolf side)

I clenched my fist tighter.

(' Why must they suffer')

I took the sage and went into the woods near the the local pack grounds. Once there I began planting sage systematically around the heir territory far enough out where they wouldn't realize my presence.

Looking at the lights of the pack glistening through the woods in the distance I felt conflicted. My blood was there and I would leave them to be damned. I once again felt my mortality and helplessness. If I warned them of the hell Mikael was about to unleash they would use their numbers and would likely kill everyone of my village. But Mikael would surprise attack and wiped out every last one of them he could get his hands on, even my blood.

I clenched my fist, briefly and released it then looked up at the stars.

(' Sigh, this feeling is this what true helplessness feels like')

I turned around and went back to the family hut and gathered my ingredients in preparation. the plan was to use the deaths of these powerful werewolves that descended from the original werewolves to fuel my Immortality spell. To counter the will of nature giving me its own weakness, I had already prepared one that would soon be the second weakness if nature damned me with the sun as they did the Mikaelsons. The first weakness would be my blood, the Bennet blood to be exact, used with the combination with a rare metal I found that I recognized from my past life occupation, Rhodium.

With everything ready I waited and watched the Mikaelson hut in the distance with emotionless eyes and like clockwork Mikael left with swords in hand. As I waited my chest felt like it was being torn apart but I still looked to the sky with tears trickling down the side of my face.

Soon smoke could be seen rising in the distance from the direction of the wolf village and I knew it was almost time to move. I got up from my spot against the tree and started to make way to the neighboring village.

Once I was close I siphoned my necklace and lit the sages I had placed. The sounds have battle had died down for a minute so I entered the village. What greeted me was a total massacre man, woman or child wasn't spared. I wasn't very surprised or hindered by what I saw as some warriors when concurring did this and Mikael was one of these warriors. As I looked over the bodies my mind was searching for Orin. Every passing minute hope filled me as I hoped he had escaped with those I'm sure had survived. Those few minutes quickly turned to despair as I finally found him. He was impaled beside a man I recognized to be Ansel and a woman I assume to be his sister. Seeing that I moved to him and closed his still open eyes with my fingers, wishing him peace in the Nordic tongue.

Without wasting anymore time I began the ritual I placed all the the necessary mixtures in the a metal bowl I had brought and started to mix. I placed a hand on the ground itself and started to chant loudly as if bending magic to my will. The winds increased and the area started to vibrate. I was hit by a wave of malicious and dark magic as it entered my body from siphoning. I could feel the fear anger and hate that was just felt before the died. As I siphoned with my free hand, I stirred the mixture to completion. I drank the potion and then continued my chant. The entire situation felt as if nature itself was trying to kill me. With a final chant of the spell everything stopped and my eyes slowly turned black. My entire being was as if corrupted by magic black veins appeared all of my body like spider kegs. The veins were visible on the side of my face as my appearance looked like the embodiment of black magic itself.

Finishing the ritual I drank a bit of Tatias blood that I didn't use for the spell to complete the ritual. Standing up I could immediately feel the changes I felt much stronger, I felt as if I could access magic and I could feel the mind of Klaus who was quickly approaching.

Feeling his mind approached I left at speeds exceeding that which he couldn't match. I cleared the sages that all burned out and removed all evidence of my presence. I returned not far away and watched the scene of Klaus seeing Ansel dead body. Seeing as if he was going to break down I couldn't take it a anymore and approached.

"Nik" I said gently as I approached. My emotions couldn't take it anymore and I myself cried as I sat beside him.

"Where were you Erik? he paused "All of this madness in a few days, all my suffering and my best friend was no where to be found?" he said coldly without taking his eyes off Ansel's corpse.

" Nik" was all I could say as I realized how I had neglected my friends suffering and started to tear up again.

Calming down a bit I pulled out the Orinson necklace and showed it to him who in response looked at me in confusion.

I gave him a warm smile then pointed at the necklace dangling from Orin's neck.

A look off realization hit him as he now looked at me with a bit of confusion and pity.

" I met him a few days ago. Told me he was my father." I said as I now looked down at my necklace.

Nik in response just put his hand on my shoulder as we sat in brief silence.

"Let's give them a proper burial before we leave" i got up outstretched my hand to Klaus.

He gave a small smile and took it and got up.

After we buried, them Nik and I slowly began to walk to village. Throughout our walk he seemed conflicted in telling me something which I could deduct what it was. Before reaching the village I stopped abruptly and looked at him.

" Niklaus, I know what Esther and Mikael has done to you and what you've become" I said indifferently.

He was speechless and hesitated to speak. Seeing him like that I pulled him into a hug " It's fine Niklaus what they've done doesn't make you a monster and I would never hate you Niklaus" I said giving him a warm smile.

He looked down to the ground still quiet

" Besides I guess we are both monsters" I said flashing him my fangs and black eyes

He was shocked and speechless for a totally different reason.

" How" was all he could say.

I just smiled gently then replaced it with a now serious look.

"Niklaus, just know that no matter what even if it's you and I against the world I will never giving up or abandon you, you are like a brother to me and that will never change." I say giving a small punch on the chest.

He smiles a rare genuine smile.

" That being said Nik I won't be going back to the village with you.....I'll be leaving and wiping away my existence from all of you" he was obviously confused.

"What I am now.." I pause " I can't be around you all I need time deal with the black magic continuing to attack my mind. With that I know any of you wouldn't be able to let me go so this is the only way.

He looked down and then spoke " So will you be able to return these memories of you? I nod and he chuckles " Even you want to perform your magics on me now" he said as a tear fell down his cheek. " I understand Erik, do what you must"

I pull him into a final hug as a tear fell down my cheek also. I used my new found psychic power to non verbally compel him to forget I ever existed when he wakes up. I then break his neck. And looked down on his unconscious body

" Goodbye my friend" I then went in a blur to the village.

As I walked through the village hut by hut i made them forget by the masses until I reached the Mikaelsons that would take much more effort. One by one I made them forget until it reached Rebekah. I made her come out to meet me where we normally snuggled.

"Bekah, you know at some point you grew on me and I actually became fond of you" I said bringing her attention to me.

She turned at break neck speed and laid eyes on me. Her eyes started to tear up. And she stood in place rooted.

" Erik, why are you here? I thought you found out what we are and hated our existence? I haven't seen you in days.

I blurred and moved unnoticeable by the human eye and hugged her, surprising her

"Bekah, I would never hate you and I would never forget you no matter how many time pass" I say after kissing her on her forehead.

She visibly blushed with tears in her eyes.

" That's why this is the hardest one to do." I say as I started using my psychic ability to make her forget me. Then making her go inside.

Sighing, I headed home to my mother. Upon arrival, I could feel that she was asleep inside which makes this easier.

I went inside and stood over her body I stared down on the woman that took care of me up till now and smiled. I placed my hand on her forehead and gave her a beautiful dream. I then made her forget which took much more effort that I expected.

Doing that I felt isolated knowing that no one hear knows me, I then packed all evidence of my existence in the hut and left in the darkness of the night.

I blurred through the forest and put much distance between me and my home village as possible... On realizing that I have covered enough distance, I stopped fighting all the dark magic that flooded my body and became one with me. Unlike what I expected it didn't control me, but much of my feelings were gone I still felt the longing for what I left behind but not really regret. My indifferent expression became my relaxed face as I began to travel at normal speed. The only thing on my mind at the moment was the anticipation of power and the future.
