Congratulations! Sensei!
The joyful scream filled the room. Noah's students were visiting him.
'Thank you for coming.' Noah smiles at them, but the smile soon fades as he sees Mei enter the room quietly.
'Sensei, your would-be wife is a doctor isn't it!' His student talked about many things, keeping Noah occupied. Mei was not making any conversation with Noah.
It was first for Mei to see Noah in a White suit. Mei was intently observing Noah's face. Noah was uncomfortable. Mei took a rose out from the bouquet and stepped towards Noah.
The sound of Mei's footsteps felt heavy to Noah. Pain takes over and his vision becomes blurry as Mei is getting closer. Mei's smile was fragile, a beautiful lie meant to hide a truth Noah knew all too well.
'I can't be here,' Mei said, letting the pretense fall away.
The fake smile vanished, replaced by aching sorrow that made Noah's own heart clench.
