Chapter 46 - CHAPTER FORTY-SIX(PART 1)

The morning had been almost suspiciously quiet.

Not peaceful.

Destiny wasn't sure Bailey Falls had earned that word yet.

Just quiet.

The kind of morning where nothing seemed to be waiting to happen.

She and Renee had spent most of it doing very little. They had walked without a destination, stopped twice for drinks they didn't really need, and spent an unreasonable amount of time arguing about whether a stray cat belonged to the woman who lived at the yellow house on the corner.

It was ordinary.

And ordinary had become strange enough that neither of them wanted to waste it.

By late morning, they were walking toward the library.

"I still don't understand why you suddenly want to go to a library," Destiny said.

Renee adjusted the strap of her bag.

"I told you. I want to read."

"You hate reading."

"I hate boring books."

"That's most books."

"Then we'll find a good one."

Destiny smiled.

"You have absolutely no idea what you're looking for."

"Neither do you."

"Fair."
