Chapter 3 - Closest One (3)

Silence. It was all there is between the two who enjoyed their late-afternoon snack together. With lofi music played by the cafe, as per Dylan's request; the refreshing air the plants give off; and the fascinating view of the sunset beside them just completes it all.

"You should get married." Dylan decided to broke off the silence, asked the question out of nowhere, almost choking the man across her with his drink. He coughed for a few times before finally stopping.

"Did you just... Stare at me as I suffered with coughing?" Chase asked, utter disbelief in his tone and expression.

"I knew I should give you the oscars."

"What if I was dying Dee?!"

"But you weren't." Dylan smiled as she took a sip from her drink and stared at her best friend.

"I am starting to regret making you a friend of mine." Chase said with a straight face.

Dylan chuckled, rolling her eyes, "Regret all you want Cee, I ain't leaving your fcking side." What she said made Chase's face heat up a little before coughing it off.

"Anyways, where in the world did that come from??" He asked.

"Just crossed my mind..." Dylan shrugged, "You know, any woman would be lucky to have you as their husband." She pointed at him, about to take a bit from her snack when Chase took it away and ate it. Dylan frowned.

"I'll marry you then." He said with his mouth full from her snack.

"I'm not just any woman mister." Dylan said stealing his drink. Chase laughed at the childish action she's displaying in front of him.

"Of course you aren't. That's what makes you special and different from them." He took back his drink from Dylan's grasp. What Chase said made her silent. He leaned back on his chair, staring at her, amused by his best friend's flushed expression.

"So you ARE a woman after all." Chase said after a brief silence.

"What's that supposed to mean? What was I in your eyes all this time? A monkey?" Dylan exclaimed, finishing her drink. Chase too, finished his.

"Nope. A woman." He winked before standing up.

"Okay. That's disgusting." Dylan followed him. Chase laughed at her reaction as they left the cafe. Both of them walked in silence towards Dylan's car.

"Are you starting tomorrow?" Chase asked.

Dylan nodded, "8 o'clock."

"Good luck then." He smiled as Dylan hopped into her car.

"Drive safely you douche." She said before driving off to home, leaving Chase behind.
