Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"Remember, Rema. You do your job and this bad boys will be yours." Max was talking to a rabbit with 40cm tall. It was his Beast, Rema, a Short-Eared Kickboxing Rabbit. In his hand, there were two Packs of Beast Earth Food.

"*Angry Noises*" Rema the Beast was making angry noises. Because Rema was contracted to him, Max could understand what she was saying. She was saying that he should give it to her for free. She was his Beast and it was his job to feed her.

"We both know it doesn't work like that."

Despite Rema was a Short-Eared Kickboxing Rabbit, a subspecies of Rabbit Archetype specializing in close combat, she was not a fighter. She was too small for that, around 0,4 meter. Average Short-Eared Kickboxing Rabbit would be at least 1,5 meters tall when they hit Mature Stage and she had lived with him for 6 years now. Meaning, she had hit her Mature Stage a long time ago.

"*Noises*" Rema raised both of her paws.

"10! Are you fucking kidding me? That's like 2,4PS and I only have 9,292PS in total after selling for three weeks."

[Money: 10480G]

[Point System: 9,292]

For the three weeks he opened his store, he only managed to get that amount of money after deducting the Free Draw expenses and living costs. Let's not forget that he had loans and bills he had to pay in 9 days. Rema asking him for 10 Beast Earth Foods meaning he had to spend 2,4PS for Premium Draw twice and he had so little of it.

"*Noises*"

"Fine! 10 Beast Earth Foods but only if we can reach selling 50 Beast Foods."

"*Noise*" Rema agreed, got her prize and went out to stand beside a chalkboard Max bought beforehand. She made a sound that only Beasts and her Beastmaster could understand.

"System... Inventory."

[Inventory]

[Beast Fire Food(Ordinary) x6]

[Beast Water Food(Ordinary) x2]

[Beast Wind Food(Ordinary) x2]

[Beast Thunder Food(Ordinary) x4]

[Beast Space Food(Ordinary) x3]

[Beast Light Food(Ordinary) x2]

[Beast Dark Food(Ordinary) x1]

[Beast Steel Food(Ordinary) x1]

[Beast Ice Food(Ordinary) x1]

[Beast Grass/Plant Food(Ordinary) x2]

[Water Converter(Ordinary) x1]

That's quite a lot. He had drawn Free Draw 50 times and sold 24 packs during the last three weeks and gave two to Rema. As for Water Converter, it seemed he had no use for it right now.

Kring

Oho... It seemed Rema was working very fast. Unlike the Beastmasters who would put up a resistance against the price System had set, Beasts would easily fall into the trap. Well, calling it a trap was misleading because his wares would benefit the Beasts.

"Welcome to Max's Deluxe Beast Store. How may I help you?"

"Owner, 25 Beast Fire Food and 25 Beast Wind Food, please."

Okay... So was not the customer Rema grabbed on the way.

Wait... Was she the woman who bought his wares for the first time? What was her name... Laura Bell...

As far as he could recall, his first customer was buying 3 packs of Beast Food. By the shortest amount it could be consumed, it should be 6 days(Beast Fire Food she purchased before) for Juvenile Stage Beast and 33 days(Beast Wind Food) for Infant Stage. Unless it was one of those Beast in Mature Stage, he couldn't think how.

"I'm sorry, dear customer. I don't have enough stock for your request. At the moment, I only have 21 Beast Fire Food and 22 Beast Wind Wood." It seemed he needed to use Premium Draw to increase the number of the stock. Using Free Draw would yield random.

"I'll take them all."

"Wait for a moment, dear customer." Max left the woman and went to the shelf to retrieve the available wares before putting them beside cash register and going to the 'warehouse' he initially set up but left unused. He used Premium Draws 7 times and got 35 Beast Fire Foods. "The total is 21457G."

The woman paid her purchase.

"Thank you for your patronage."

[Money: 31937G]

[Point System: 21,789]

Huh? Interesting.

Premium Draw x7 = 35 Beast Foods = 35 × 0,499PS = 17,465PS

Free Draw x1 = 8 × 0,429PS = 3,432PS

Leftover Point System after purchase = 0,892PS

Final Balance = 17,465PS + 3,432PS + 0,892PS = 21,789PS

If using his original schematic it would be like this.

Premium Draw x7 = 35 Beast Foods = 35 × 0,259PS = 9,065PS

Free Draw x1 = 8 × 0,429PS = 3,432PS

Leftover Point System After Purchase = 0,892PS

Total = 9,065PS + 3,432PS + 0,892PS = 13,389PS

He would ask System later.

Kring

Okay... Very weird. Just as a customer leaving his store, another future customer came.

"Why are you bringing me here?" Someone with Amber Beast Academy uniform, his almamater, entering his store. He was accompanied by a Snowy-Cloud Feathered Pigeon, a rare type Beast.

"*Chirp*Chirp*"

Max was so clueless what this pigeon was saying.

"You want food like the rabbit outside has?" The young academy cadet was speechless. He looked at his own Beast like it was speaking alien language.

Rema's doing then. It made him wondering what she was doing.

"*Chirp*Chirp*Chirp*" The pigeon made weird moves with its body.

"I have no idea what you are saying."

The pigeon flew to the shelf where Beast Food was.

"*Chirp*"

Max realized what it wanted. Well, he did have a vague idea. It just Beast didn't have money so he turned to its Beastmaster. "Dear customer. It seems your Beast wants one of the products sold in my store."

"Hold on a second." The young academy cadet sobered and looked at his own Beast. "You dragged me here, making a demand for a Beast Food. Don't you forget, we have just bought a new one."

"*Chirp*Chirp*"

"Rubbish? That was a Premium Goods. Everyone in the academy uses that brand."

"*Chirp*"

Max stood in place watching one Beastmaster and his Beast arguing. It reminded of him and Rema. Rema was used to be a shy Beast but after knowing each other, her naughty bits coming up and becoming a Beast that liked to argue with him.

"Dear customer and Beast. If I may to interrupt your conversation." The two arguing Beastmaster and Beast stopped and were staring at him. "Every product has its own advantages. For an instance, the wares my store is selling have many good points that many similar products don't have. Faster maturity for any Beasts without experiencing Mental Breakdown, strengthening Beast's specific elemental power, long lasting usage because one pellet is enough to feed an Infant Stage Beast and three pellets for Juvenile Stage. Above all, every Beast will love it. However, as good as the Beast Food is, it still has its own disadvantages. More expensive and it is recommended for Infant and Juvenile Stage not Mature Stage."

"There's no way it's real." The young academy cadet said. It was normal for him because the effects were too fantastic to be real and Beast Foods sold elsewhere didn't have that effects.

As many people knew, each type of Beast had a different time to mature. It could need an extremely short time or a very long time to mature. Beastmaster as a profession that used Beasts, having a Mature Beast was very important. Although a Beastmaster could use an Infant Stage Beast to fight but compared to a Mature Stage, the difference was too high. It was safe to say that at a same level Mature Stage Beast was stronger in almost every aspect than a Juvenile or Infant Stage. To anticipate such fast moving Beastmaster, a Growth Hormone was introduced.

A Growth Hormone was a solution invented to speed up Beast Maturity Level. However, forcing something that unnatural had its own side effect. The Beast that was injected with Growth Hormone would be easily irritated and angered easily. Their mind was trapped in a state between their previous Maturity Level and new Maturity Level. They needed a rest and sometimes it took a long time. In the worst cases, Beast would rampage on its surrounding that could lead it to kill its Beastmaster and other people if not coming unprepared or the Beast would enter coma state or die. This situation was known as Mental Breakdown.

Then there was strengthening Beast own power.

Strengthening Beast was very important for Beastmasters. I mean who disliked Strong Beasts. Stronger Beasts mean an extra insurance and income. A Beastmaster's life was full of dangers and death was the common theme to occur. It was normal to expect the one you know to die without you knowing.

The affair of strengthening Beast's power was different for each Beast. If Max never met System, other than training, he would say there's no such thing as a universal strengthening method for Beast with similar element. Each Beast required different natural resources depending on their species even if they had the same element. The numbers available in the wild and in the market were also scarce. In the wild, you needed to fight your way to get one and sometimes when you were done with the fighting, the resources you needed were still not ripe to take or eaten by others first. In the market, the price of natural resources was depending on the difficulty. Even if you had the money, there were chances you would be still unable to get it for many reasons.

"I assure you it is real. With a price of 499G per pack, you can get many benefits that other products can't."

"So cheap!" Max could see the young academy cadet was attracted by the price. Compared to the amount of money a Beastmaster used to strengthen their Beasts, Beast Foods that offered similar effect was sold in his store with a cheap price and could satisfy the stomach of the Beast. That is if the young academy cadet believed what Max said. "My Beast is an ice element type Beast. Do you have one?"

"Naturally I have. How many do you need?"

"Just one."

Max went to the shelf where he put Beast Ice Food. "This is Beast Ice Food, a suitable food for Beast with ice element."

"Weird packaging." The young academy cadet commented and paid his purchase. Well, the packaging was indeed weird. The material that made up the packaging felt different. Not looking like a plastic but giving a vibe like one.

"Thank you for your patronage."

----------Break----------

Max was nervous. Being stared by someone who admittedly handsome by world's standard felt wrong. And there was another person wearing a butler uniform and was staring at him like he was commiting murder.

"Dear customer." Although homosexuality was generally accepted in this world but he was not one of those guys. He was straight as an arrow. He didn't bend to a guy no matter how much handsome he was. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Your contact."

It instantly freaked Max badly. If it were a girl, he would gladly give her his number. This customer... was pissing him off.

"While I do not mind giving my contact number, it is purely for business only. So I hope dear customer doesn't misuse it for something else." It took him a lot to say it with a calm face. Opening a store... was very tiring.

The rich wearing customer scowled. "I was not asking for your number, idiot." For whatever reason, the butler who accompanied the guy had his vibe changed. "I was asking your friend's number, your store's supplier."

System's?

Max had no idea that System had a real contact number which in itself was ridiculous. As omnipotent as System was, it didn't possess a body or rather it was with him all the time. So no one but himself could contact System.

"I must first offer an apology that I can't help you. My friend has forbidden me from giving his contact." He inwardly relieved that it was not his number that was asked by the rich guy. "In addition, he also made it clear that if I do that, my supplies will be cut off by him. My store is new and is in need of his supplies. Going against him is literally killing me." He put System as the villain in their relationship. It was better than giving a hint that an omnipotent entity was hovering around him. It was the recipe for disaster and nuthouse.

"Damn... As I thought. Getting SSS Qualifications Product from the source is impossible."

SSS Qualifications?

Max only knew that rating was starting from no rank to S rank. So to hear SSS Qualifications, that was clearly a myth. An impossible thing.

"Pardon, dear customer? SSS Qualifications?"

"You don't know?" The rich guy was looking at him like he was an idiot. "Damn... How did you sell all this stuff without knowing? I mean, damn... You are one lucky duck."

Not exactly what Max called as lucky. It was pretty obvious to himself that he was one hell of a miserable guy. Died at young age and then woke up as a baby only to live a shitty life yada yada.

"I won't call myself lucky but I'm pretty close."

Without System, Max would lead a life where he would try his best to prove the whole world was wrong about him. Going on expeditions that he would sure fail or die with his Beast doing it.

"Man... I'm so jealous of you. You can get all this stuff without going through hell. That company that made this stuff won't even sell to me. Not even with me using my dad's name."

A pretty good info actually if Max had to say it. At least it saved him from explaining in the future. But boy... System was too scary to set all this up.

"Don't worry, dear customer. As long as you have money and I happen to have available stocks. You can always buy what you need." Alex wondered if he could call himself a good salesman. The whole sweet-talk to potential customers were pointing to that direction.

The rich guy slapped himself on the head. "I forgot you are the only official store selling this stuff..." There was a pause. "I need 100 Beast Dark Foods."

That's quite a tall order, more than his previous sales, 43 packs.

"I'm sorry, dear customer. I only have 90 Beast Dark Foods available at the moment."

Using Free Draw had many limits where Premium Draw didn't have but it had the highest turnover, 0,429PS, where as Premium Draw only yielded 0,259PS per pack after deducting 1,2PS per 5 packs.

"Your stocks are getting bigger and bigger, store owner."

Damn rich kid and his connections.

"Yes. Please wait a moment." He left the rich guy and his butler before returning with the goods after several trips. Maybe he should consider buying a trolley for easy access. It saved him the trouble to bring his wares out. "The total is 44910G."

"Adam." The rich guy ordered his butler to pay and stored the Beast Foods.

"Thank you for your patronage."

[Money: 77436G]

[Point System: 45,528]

"Is there anything you need?"

Max was confused why the rich guy had yet to leave his store. Normally, people would leave after they made a purchase yet this guy was staying and looking around.

"I want to know if you have a new product to sell."

Max shook his head. "Not at the moment but soon." He hadn't unlocked Water Converter Channel(Ordinary) yet. It might look cheap on PS but he still needed to save PS. Once his wares were known by people, buying in bulk would be a common place. Unlocking a new product would no doubt cut his income.

"Ah, well. Maybe later. Let's go, Adam."
