Chapter 46 - Ch 46. Rare and in demand

Windson watched as the forest began to turn into grassland and then slowly into a rocky area. The ride was not comfortable but many stops were made. The small creepy-looking man who bought Windson who goes by the name Grimish checked on him often. Smiling from time to time in what looked like giddy delight. Feeling uneasy about the situation Windson finally decided to ask the man a question. "What exactly are you planning to do with me?"

Grimish gave an even bigger smile that seemed almost unnaturally wide. "Oh, you perfect thing I am going to sell you of course. You cost me quite a penny but I can guarantee I can get more out of you than what old Andi could. You see I am somewhat of a connoisseur of monsters. I know the true value of any monster I come across and if I don't well. I will eventually."

He laughed and returned to the front of the wagon. Having what looked like horses but with six legs continue to walk at a rather alarming speed. Windson was used to it by now as he had been in the caged wagon for a few days now. Thinking about what the man said worried him even more. He was used to being a prisoner but from the looks of things, this guy was no ordinary man.

A few more days passed and the sun beat down on them. Windson was given water enough to drink and something to shade him from the sun but the heat was still another matter. He was sweating like crazy. Eventually, they made their way to Grimish's destination. It was a large warehouse-like building that smelled sickly sweet. As if the scent of death was trying to be blocked out with citrus or something. It was a smell that made Windsons stomach heave a little.

The wagon stopped at the front of the building and Grimish stepped out he unlocked the cage and opened the door. Windson was surprised by this. If he wanted to he could escape right now and fly away. But something told him he should not do that. Grimish was smiling and extending his hand out to beckon Windson out. He did so calmly and looked around. they were in the middle of what looked like a cracked and drought riddled area.

Windson looked up once more to see the skies and knew that if he did not try now he may not get the chance to escape again. Extending his wings with as much speed and grace as he could muster Windson took off into the air and tried his hardest to getaway. Grimish only smiled and watched as Windson grew further and further away. Looking back Windson was concerned. Why did he let him go so easily? What was his game? It soon hit Windson that while he was flying he was not getting very far anymore. After a few seconds of staring, he saw that he was not moving at all. stuck in some kind of thick mist. struggling to get free the mist began to show sparks of electricity and Windson knew what was coming next. He had fallen into grimish's trap and he was about to pay the price.

Bolts of electricity struck Windson and down he went quickly descending to the ground barely conscious. Grimish just smiled and watched him fall. Windson knew that if he landed now the way he was falling he would easily break his neck. But he could not move his wings they were paralyzed. Thinking through his life choices he realized that this was as good as any way to go. At least he can finally rest.

Just as Windson was about to hit the ground his thoughts stopped and he slowed to a halt just inches above the ground. floating for a moment it eventually stopped holding him and he fell a few inches safely to the ground butt first. confused at what just happened he looked at Grimish who was still smiling. "Have fun there? Playtime is over it's time to come in now."

Struggling to his feet he felt off as the nerves in his body jerked a little here and there due to the electricity that surged through him. He walked slowly towards Grimish who welcomed him into the building. inside Windson did not see much. it looked like a bunch of wooden shelves decorated the area and a large wooden counter sat in the middle of the room. The stench of decay was strong in the air and Windson had to cover his nose as he entered.

"You will be in this area front and center my precious new friend." Pointing to an empty wooden shelf with chains hanging from the top. Windson did not understand what was going on.

He looked at Grimish confused. "what do you mean that is my living quarters it's barely big enough for me to stand in."

Grimish laughed a little and beckoned him forward. "Oh don't worry you will soon find it is more comfortable than you thought."

Using some kind of magic Grimish lifted Windson in the air and brought him over to the shelf. the chains attached to Windson's arms as he dangled there. He was now worried. Usually, he had ground to stand on or sleep on but in this position, he was completely vulnerable. He felt less like a person and more like a piece of meat being placed on display.

Grimish smiled with that extra-long grin and walked to the counter. Pulling out what looked like a red button he placed it on the countertop. "Let the sales begin!" Pressing the button all of the shelves turned around to display their contents. What Windson saw caused him to vomit immediately. All around him were monsters of different sizes and types all bound up like him. But what disturbed him the most was the fact that most of them were missing bits and pieces of themselves. missing skin or eyes or appendages. He now knew where that smell was coming from.

"Oh me, oh my, please don't vomit on yourself you do lower your value that way." Taking out what looks like an orange he began peeling it and placing it on the counter. "Nothing like citrus to liven up a room!"
