Because of the injustice that befell him then, Mikołaj felt hurt and offended and decided for himself that he did not want to work in a place where he was not only underestimated, but his honesty was also undermined. He was glad that the previous director had flew out with a bang. He completely forgot that Stefan came to Poland to revive the declining business, so the whole situation will affect him the most. Even Skrzynecki's colleagues from the department could easily find employment with competitors, but Szwedas was in such a position that the stigma of the whole thing would follow him across continents.
And yet during all this time Stefan never once showed how much that situation stressed him. Whenever Mikołaj saw him in passing, Szwedas smiled kindly. Not only to him. This guy seemed to have a moment for everyone and a kind word that cheered others up to fight to keep the company upright.
