After they had the left the Wonderland of the Unwavering Monument, Ji Yuan's group was a little lost in the mountains. So, they had split up for a short time in search of the next passage way through the mountains or for new Wonderlands to encounter.
Ji Yuan was surprised that he had been assigned Zhi Jiugong, the Lovely Empress and the Smiling Divine Maiden in his small group.
Or rather Yun Chi had assigned it on purpose.
From being the most unwelcome maiden in the group, she was now the most popular de facto leader along with Bai Qianfeng.
Since Bai Qianfeng did not like to talk very much, leaving it to Ling Feiyue to handle much of the talking for her, Yun Chi had somehow taken over the maidens as a group.
Although Ji Yuan was the nominal leader of the group, he had lost his say due to his disappointing performance in the last trial for not 'working hard enough'. And also, because he was a male and no one wants him to pick his favorite maidens to go patrolling with him.
