Chapter 210 - Hell

Chapter 210 — Hell

Hell noticed Heaven before anyone in Asteria understood what had happened.

Far beneath the world, beneath the forests and cities and oceans, beneath everything that still carried the shape of humanity, the realm of Hell trembled.

It began with a single pulse.

The black stone beneath Hell's rivers cracked.

Flames bent sideways.

Chains hanging from ancient towers began to rattle.

Then silence.

Every demon stopped.

Every creature beneath the burning skies of Hell looked upward.

There was no Heaven above them.

There was no sun.

There was only the endless darkness that belonged to Hell.

Yet something had touched the world above.

Something bright.

Something ancient.

Something that did not belong to them.

The second pulse came harder.

A mountain of black stone split down its center.

Fire erupted from the wound.

Demons scattered.

Some screamed.

Others simply stared.

Hell had felt Heaven.

And Hell remembered.

Crowley felt it from Asteria.

He was still standing in the courtyard.

He hadn't moved far from Brook.

Gabriel remained there as well.

Tala was nearby.

Hutena stood farther back.

Sera and Henry had not stopped watching Gabriel since he arrived.

Everything should have been focused on the archangel.

Instead—

Crowley's expression suddenly changed.

He looked down.

Not at the ground.

At something beneath it.

His eyes narrowed.

"That's not good."

Sera immediately looked at him.

"What?"

Crowley didn't answer.

Another tremor passed through the courtyard.

It was so subtle that Henry almost missed it.

The stones beneath their feet shifted.

Not enough to knock anyone over.

Not enough to crack the courtyard.

But Crowley felt something else.

Something much farther away.

His connection to Hell.

It had flinched.

Crowley slowly straightened.

"Someone touched the Earth."

Gabriel looked at him.

"Yes."

Crowley's eyes moved toward him.

"You felt it too."

Gabriel didn't deny it.

"I felt Heaven touch it."

Crowley stared.

"That's not what I meant."

Gabriel remained silent.

Crowley looked toward Brook.

Brook stood several feet away, still processing everything that had happened.

The open sky above Asteria remained impossible to ignore.

Gabriel's arrival had changed the atmosphere.

But now—

Crowley could feel something beneath that.

Something distant.

Something hot.

Something angry.

Hell.

Crowley closed his eyes.

For a moment, he allowed himself to feel the connection.

The sensation came immediately.

Hell was trembling.

Not because it had been attacked.

Not because something had entered.

Because something had happened to Earth.

He could feel the disturbance spreading through the lower realm.

The rivers.

The flames.

The old gates.

The ancient places that even demons avoided.

All of them were reacting.

Crowley opened his eyes.

"Hell felt that."

Henry looked confused.

"How?"

Crowley glanced at him.

"Because Hell is Hell."

Henry waited.

Crowley sighed.

"That's the explanation you're getting."

Charon slowly emerged from behind Henry's shoulder.

Only half of his face appeared.

"Hell… scared?"

Crowley looked at him.

"No."

Charon blinked.

"Shaking."

"Yes."

"Same thing."

Crowley almost smiled.

"Fair point."

Gabriel looked toward the sky.

His expression had changed.

Not fear.

Recognition.

Crowley noticed.

"You know what that was."

Gabriel didn't answer immediately.

Then he said:

"Heaven reached the Earth."

Crowley gave him a hard stare.

"I know."

"And Hell felt it."

"I know that too."

Gabriel looked at him.

"Then you already understand."

Crowley stepped closer.

"I understand that Heaven has managed to disturb Hell without even entering it."

Gabriel's expression remained calm.

"Yes."

"That's supposed to be impossible."

"Many things are."

Crowley frowned.

"Don't start talking like Rick."

Gabriel almost smiled.

"I don't know Rick."

"You'd like him."

"I'll take your word for it."

Crowley turned away.

The casual exchange lasted only a moment.

Then the ground pulsed again.

This time—

Brook reacted.

His fourth mark burned beneath his skin.

He grabbed his arm.

Crowley's attention immediately snapped toward him.

"Brook."

"I'm fine."

Crowley didn't believe him.

Neither did Sera.

Neither did Tala.

Gabriel watched silently.

The mark faded.

Brook released his arm.

"What was that?"

Crowley answered before anyone else could.

"Hell."

Brook looked at him.

"Hell?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Crowley glanced toward Gabriel.

"Because Heaven touched Earth."

Brook looked upward.

Then toward the ground.

His expression tightened.

"So Hell felt it."

Crowley nodded.

"Apparently."

Brook stared at his hand.

For a few seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Tala quietly said:

"It isn't only Hell."

Everyone looked at her.

She had placed her hand against one of the courtyard stones.

Her face was serious.

"The Earth is still responding."

Crowley looked at her.

"How?"

"It doesn't know what to do with what just happened."

Gabriel looked at Tala.

She met his gaze.

Neither spoke.

Crowley noticed the tension between them immediately.

He looked back toward Brook.

"Whatever Heaven did, it reached deeper than the surface."

Brook frowned.

"I didn't do anything."

Crowley looked at him.

"I know."

That answer came instantly.

Brook looked surprised.

Crowley continued.

"That's the problem."

Far below them—

Hell continued to shake.

Lilith stood alone in one of the oldest regions of the realm.

She had known something was moving.

She had felt it before the sky opened.

Before Gabriel descended.

Before the Earth reacted.

She had felt a disturbance moving through the boundaries between realms.

Not a body.

Not a voice.

Not even a presence she could identify.

A movement.

Something changing position.

Something crossing a line.

Lilith stood beside a river of black fire.

She watched the flames bend.

"Gabriel."

She said the name quietly.

The river answered with a violent surge.

Lilith smiled faintly.

"So you finally came down."

A demon approached from behind her.

It stopped several feet away.

"My Lady."

Lilith didn't turn.

"What?"

"The realm is reacting."

"I know."

"Should we prepare the armies?"

"No."

The demon hesitated.

"But Heaven—"

"Is not attacking Hell."

The demon lowered its head.

"Yes, my Lady."

Lilith looked into the fire.

The flames reflected nothing.

Not her face.

Not the surrounding towers.

Only darkness.

She had seen Hell react before.

She had seen it respond to angels.

She had seen it respond to wars.

She had seen it scream when Lucifer fell.

But this was different.

Hell wasn't responding to Gabriel.

It was responding to what Gabriel's arrival meant.

Heaven had touched Earth.

And something on Earth had answered.

Lilith's eyes narrowed.

"Interesting."

The demon remained silent.

Lilith finally turned.

"Leave."

The demon bowed and disappeared.

Lilith returned her attention to the fire.

She already knew something was moving.

She simply hadn't known where it would lead.

Now she did.

At least partially.

A human stood in Asteria.

A human carrying things that should never have belonged inside one body.

Michael.

Lucifer.

Death.

And something else.

Something older.

Something rooted.

Something the Earth itself recognized.

Lilith smiled.

"So that's what you're doing."

She didn't know everything.

She never claimed to.

But she knew enough.

The realms were beginning to overlap.

Not physically.

Not yet.

But their attention had begun converging on the same place.

Asteria.

And at the center of it—

Brook.

Lilith looked toward the distant darkness.

She could almost feel the connection.

Heaven above.

Earth beneath.

Hell below.

Three realms responding to one person.

Her smile faded.

"That's dangerous."

Back in Asteria—

Crowley was still standing beside Brook.

His connection to Hell hadn't weakened.

If anything, it had become clearer.

He could feel the demons watching.

He could feel the old realm trembling.

He could feel something moving through Hell's oldest places.

And he hated every second of it.

Brook looked at him.

"How bad?"

Crowley considered lying.

He decided against it.

"Bad enough that Hell noticed."

Brook's face tightened.

"Is Hell coming?"

"No."

Crowley paused.

"Not yet."

Sera crossed her arms.

"That's reassuring."

"It wasn't supposed to be."

Henry looked between them.

"Can Hell actually come here?"

Crowley glanced at Gabriel.

Gabriel answered.

"Yes."

Henry's face fell.

Crowley sighed.

"Thank you, Gabriel. Very comforting."

Gabriel looked at him.

"You asked."

"I know."

Crowley rubbed his forehead.

Then he looked at Brook again.

"But that's not the immediate problem."

Brook frowned.

"What is?"

Crowley pointed toward the sky.

"Heaven touched Earth."

Then he pointed toward the ground.

"Hell felt it."

His hand lowered.

"And the Earth reacted to both."

Brook stared at him.

Crowley continued quietly.

"That means whatever is happening around you isn't staying around you."

Brook said nothing.

Crowley stepped closer.

"Every realm is beginning to notice."

Gabriel's eyes moved toward Brook.

Tala watched the Earth.

Sera watched Gabriel.

Henry watched everyone.

For several seconds, the courtyard was completely silent.

Then—

Brook asked:

"So what happens now?"

Crowley looked toward the open sky.

He didn't answer immediately.

Because for the first time since he had known Brook—

he didn't have a joke.

Didn't have an easy answer.

Didn't have some old piece of knowledge to throw at the problem.

Hell had felt Heaven.

Heaven had reached Earth.

And Earth had recognized something inside Brook.

Three powers that were never supposed to move together had begun turning toward the same human being.

Crowley finally spoke.

"We wait."

Brook frowned.

"That's it?"

"For now."

Crowley looked at Gabriel.

Then Tala.

Then the sky.

"No one knows what happens next."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"And that usually means something terrible is about to happen."

Brook sighed.

"You're really bad at reassurance."

"I've been told."

Crowley looked back toward the ground.

Far beneath them—

Hell trembled again.

Crowley felt it.

So did something else.

Brook's fourth mark pulsed once beneath his skin.

The Earth answered.

Crowley went completely still.

He felt Hell.

He felt the Earth.

And for one brief moment—

he felt something neither of them.

Something deeper.

Something that had not awakened.

Something waiting.

Crowley slowly looked at Brook.

Brook noticed.

"What?"

Crowley shook his head.

"Nothing."

He wasn't ready to say it.

Because he didn't understand it.

And Crowley hated admitting when he didn't understand something.

Far below—

Lilith stood beside the black river.

She felt the same pulse.

Her expression became very still.

She whispered to the darkness:

"Not yet."

The river went quiet.

Hell stopped trembling.

For a moment.

But the damage had already been done.

Heaven had touched Earth.

Hell had felt it.

And now all three realms knew—

something had changed.
