The sleek police cruiser pulled to a smooth stop right outside the wrought-iron gates of the estate, its engine humming quietly as the rain-slicked asphalt reflected the overcast sky.
Travis opened his door first, stepping out onto the driveway before immediately turning to assist Jillyanna. Placing one firm, supportive hand against her lower back and reaching out with his other to clasp her palm, he gently guided her out of the back seat.
"I should always bring the elite security guards wherever we go from now on," Travis noted, his voice laced with quiet authority as he carefully maneuvered her around the open car door. "No more spontaneous trips without an armored escort."
"That actually sounds like a very sensible plan for once," Jillyanna responded with a tired, faint smile, leaning into his side for support.
