Chapter 57 - ELIZABETH'S PAST III

The quiet hum of the air conditioner in the foyer was suddenly shattered by the front door bursting open.

Elizabeth ran inside, her face lit up with an unadulterated, triumphant glow. She was clutching a thick, leather-bound portfolio against her chest, along with several folders jammed full of clinical documentation.

"Aahhhhh!"

She let out a high-pitched, ecstatic squeal of pure joy that echoed off the high ceilings of the house. She spun around on her heels in the hallway, practically bouncing on her feet like a child who had just been handed the key to a candy store.

"What on earth happened?"

Anton emerged from the kitchen, a white cotton tea towel draped over his shoulder as he wiped his hands. He took one look at her flush, excited face and the chaotic stack of papers in her arms, a small, knowing smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
