Chapter 469 - CH.449: The One True Way.

( Yuuki's POV )

Seig: Hey scholar, there's something I've been wondering about.

Mubal: My name is Mubal; what is your question?

Seig: The thing is, our castle and the whole forest weren't here before; it all appeared out of nowhere along with the ruins where we found the chronicle. You've heard of something like that before.

Mubal: A forest appearing out of nowhere, umm? The visions that some see touching the chronicles could be swirling within the mind of a bearer of the mark of the stars, and that could be confused with their own memories.

Bearers of the mark of the stars, that's what people who gained powers by touching the chronicles were called.

Marica: I don't think you understand, we were there when it happened, we saw it with our own eyes.

Yuuki: Seriously, Marica, would you do me a favor? Could you think really hard about that event?

Marica: Huh? Why?

Yuuki: Trust me, and stay still.

Marica followed my instructions somewhat confused and curious, but when I put my hands on her shoulders and began to bring my face closer to hers, Marica began to blush, I didn't stop, and when my forehead touched hers, I saw the scene they described earlier.

A canyon was bathed in a green and gold light, the earth twisting and cracking; where there had been nothing, now there was a forest, trees so large that one would think the forest had always been there.

After obtaining that information, I began to ponder it. I felt that all of this was connected to the order, but before I could reach a conclusion, Marica's somewhat shaken voice pulled me from my thoughts.

Marica: H-hey, what was that?

Yuuki: Oh, I'm sorry, I have the ability to see other people's memories, but I need physical contact for that.

Marica: Couldn't you have held my hand or something?

Yuuki: It doesn't work like that, but thanks for the information; it gave me a lot to think about.

Marica: You didn't see... anything private, right?

Yuuki: No, I can only see what you're thinking the loudest.

Technically, I can search within all of someone's memories, but only under specific conditions.

/////////////////////

Upon returning to the castle, everyone gathered in the great hall, and Seig gave the news of what had happened on the trip to Janam and welcomed Mubal to the castle, now that they had an official alliance with a great kingdom, Liu, who was the strategist of this group, pushed the idea that this group and the castle needed a name, a logical suggestion, distinction, and recognition are necessary.

What was decided was that the name of this group would be the Stella Company and its base would be Alba Castle, soon after that was decided, the conversation returned to the enemy they were facing: the order.

Hotupa: With our alliance with the Magedome, even if they don't send troops to help us, the order will think twice before attacking us again.

Seig: That's fine and good, but even if they didn't send help, I was still going to help them, because they are fighting against the order; We can't do anything about people who join voluntarily, but using their army to force their belief on others, forcing you to throw away your dreams because someone else says that's not your destiny, I cannot accept that.

I could see that everyone was determined to fight against the order, and with good reason, but at that moment I raised my hand and everyone's attention was on me.

Yuuki: This may be a stupid question, but what is the objective of the order?

Marica: What are you saying? They want to use their army to force their beliefs on others. You've already seen what they're doing and even fought against them.

Yuuki: I understand that, believe me, but I've dealt with groups like the Order before. Even if they spread their beliefs worldwide, what would that accomplish? The idea of the one true way is not a belief, but a very serious threat.

Erin: What do you mean? How can they be more dangerous?

Yuuki: It's not about forcing a predetermined future but eliminating any other possible futures; here's a question: if I said I'm going to flip a coin a hundred times and it will always land on heads, what would you think?

Seig: I would say you won't know that until you try.

Yuuki: You're the worst enemy of the order's recruiters, but that's not the answer I was expecting. Someone else wants to try.

Mubal: Obtaining the same result by flipping a coin one hundred times is almost a mathematical impossibility.

Yuuki: Exactly, but if the predetermined future of the order said that was going to happen, how would they guarantee that?

Erin: The predictions they give are not that specific.

Yuuki: Not yet, there is an infinite number of worlds and realities, which means that a world where someone flips a coin and gets that result already exists, so one way to guarantee that result as the only result is to destroy every world and reality where that result does not occur.

Marica: Destroying worlds and realities, don't you think that's a bit much? How would they even manage that in the first place?

Yuuki: Everything has a beginning and an end, even worlds. What you saw of a forest appearing out of nowhere were fragments of another world mixing with this world, If the order is so dedicated to collecting false chronicles, it must be because it helps them with their mission to destroy other worlds, of course in the time it takes for one world to disappear, a hundred other worlds could be created, which implies that destroying the future is also part of the order's plans, that, I believe, is their goal: an empty existence without surprises and without a future.

My grim description of the order's mission left the room silent, and it seemed that everyone wanted to deny it but they had trouble speaking.

Erin: Why would anyone want something like that?

Yuuki: Making a choice means possible error, defeat, loss, and time waits for no one; the people we love will one day leave, weakness and a feeling of powerlessness to change could leave someone vulnerable to the security that the order deceives them into believing they have.

My words served to drain the determination of everyone present except for one, the leader of this group.

Seig: If that is their goal, I will fight harder to stop them. I want nothing to do with that kind of world.

Yuuki: Of course not, it's my job to deal with groups like the order, it's good to see that there are people who share our dedication, what I said is just the worst possible scenario, no need to be discouraged.
