Chapter 441 - CH.421: Walled City.

( Mitsuki's POV )

When Tatenashi said she was going out, she moved to an open hatch and, without revealing herself to the humans below, fired a laser that split into several shots, with that single attack, Tatenashi eliminated all the titans in the village.

Naturally, the humans were perplexed by the sudden extermination of the titans, but someone in command ordered them to return to their horses, which they used for transportation, I suppose that's good enough to escape the Titans.

Mitsuha: Should we follow them?

Kanzashi: Hey, I'm detecting multiple signs of life together in one place, I think that must be a city.

The humans continued with their exploration, extermination mission, or whatever it was they were doing, and I thought about following them as my sister suggested, but when I heard that Kanzashi had found a city, I just wanted to go there.

We followed the signals that Kanzashi detected, and our ship soon led us to the source of the life signals, Indeed, the place we found was a city, but it was rather strange.

The city was surrounded by a gigantic wall, which is reasonable considering their enemy, the titans, But something strange was that this wall stretched beyond the limits of the city; our ship ascended high in the sky and we were able to appreciate the complete geography of this place.

The city we found was one of four located at the four cardinal points of a long wall, Within the territory of this wall there was another wall that followed the same style of construction, four cities at its cardinal points and within that was the largest city.

There was another wall that contained these two, but the area inside and outside that wall was infested with titans. I guess the group we encountered was trying to claim that territory.

We sent a message to Regina in Babylon to have a mobile base sent to us, and while that was in process, we observed the city we had found, they weren't very advanced, so I wondered how they managed to build those enormous walls.

Kanzashi: Girls, I'm detecting a strange signal.

Immediately after hearing Kanzashi's words, a lightning bolt struck in front of the wall, That was followed by a cloud of steam, and out of nowhere appeared a titan larger than any we had ever seen.

He was so big that he could stick his head over the top of the wall; the giant then used his hand to knock down a line of cannons onto the wall to weaken its defenses, Then he threw his leg back and aimed for the wall's weak point, the draw gate; with a powerful kick he opened a hole large enough for other titans to enter the city.

Seeing that, we had the same thought; all those actions were deliberate. That titan was acting with purpose and intelligence, This looked promising for our investigation, but that titan disappeared as soon as it appeared.

Mitsuki: Kanzashi, do you think you can trace the strange signal you mentioned earlier?

Kanzashi: ...That titan, it's not normal.

Tatenashi: Did you see anything?

Kanzashi: That titan had a name, and its class was... a shifter.

Elze: A shifter? You mean it can transform, into what?

Linze: In a human I think, he probably use all that steam that came out when he transformed to escape inside the city.

Mitsuki: Now we have a specific object, let's go down there, we'll walk around the city while Kanzashi looks for the titan-shifter.

Tatenashi: Are we going to support the people of the city? They are involved in a conflict that we know nothing about.

Mitsuha: At the very least, we should help with the evacuation.

Mitsuki: that's true, you have permission to hunt titans, but don't reveal your presence; the enemy could go into hiding if we reveal ourselves too soon.

With our objective in mind, we jumped from the ship. We had optical camouflage and magical artifacts that concealed our presence almost perfectly, making us invisible to normal humans.

The place where I landed was the center of the attack; around me were soldiers assessing the damage caused by the titan-shifter, The cannons were completely unusable, and on the ground other soldiers tried to install giant wooden barricades with stakes to prevent the advance of the titans, but the soldiers' extermination skills were far inferior to those we saw exploring the territory of the third wall.

Their efforts didn't amount to much, and soon the survivors were forced to retreat. After that, I ventured a little further into the city, In the distance, screams of terror could be heard, but there was not much soldier activity.

I sat on a rooftop and beheaded some of the titans who entered the city, I repeated that for a while until I heard a group of soldiers swinging through the city and I decided to follow them.

The group I encountered was young and felt inexperienced, a terrible recipe that proved its lethality when a small titan used a long leap to catch one of the young soldiers in its mouth, the titan bit him in two and the rest of his companions could only scream his name without being able to help.

More titans appeared and they had to fight for their lives, I, on the other hand, moved at great speed and placed an extraction device on the soldier's chest, and he was transported to a healing capsule at the new base, but we had a limited number of capsules, so I couldn't save everyone.

Another incident I decided to intervene in was a girl who made the mistake of letting a Titan pull on her cables, the girl's body slammed against a wall and she couldn't do anything as the titan grabbed her and moved her towards its mouth.

I landed on the shoulder of the titan who was unable to detect me, but the same was not true for the girl who, when she saw me, her terrified face was filled with confusion.

Mitsuki: Hey, do you want a hand?
