Chapter 837 - Chapter 827. Half-assed Work

The Incubus System Chapter 827. Half-assed Work

I unfurled my wings and took to the air, soaring toward the designated meeting point at the center of the battleground. The city landscape was now in ruins, reduced to rubble and scorched earth as a result of the fierce battle. My thoughts briefly drifted to what the aftermath would look like if this destruction had taken place in the real world, rather than within my Devil Space.

The air was thick with the acrid smell of burning debris. Smoke billowed from the ruins of buildings.

I touched down on the scorched earth.

Without wasting a moment, I extended my hand forward. The portal opened with a rippling distortion of reality. One by one, my loyal pets and dedicated servants entered the portal.

They moved swiftly.

However, as Miranda approached the portal, there was a subtle change in the atmosphere.

She paused at the threshold, her gaze fixed on the landscape. I could sense her reluctance.

"Get inside," I urged Miranda.

Miranda hesitated. She wanted to fight on, to ensure that every last parasite demon was eradicated from this area. I respected her spirit, but I also knew the lesson she needed to learn.

"I hate doing half-assed work," she retorted, turning to face me one last time.

"So do I," I admitted. "But if we don't give humans the chance to fight for their territory, they'll grow dependent on us. When we're not around, they'll be left defenseless. Teaching them independence and entrusting them with their responsibility is not a bad thing."

Miranda pursed her lips, contemplating my words. Her gaze bore into mine for a few moments, searching for understanding.

Slowly, she relented, giving a reluctant nod.

She took a step and entered the portal.

I was on the verge of entering the portal when a drone suddenly emerged, desperately trying to follow us into the rift.

With a decisive motion, I unleashed my Hell Thunder. The destructive energy surged forth, instantly obliterating the drone. Shattered fragments of metal and circuitry rained down.

Then a sudden whooshing sound drew my gaze skyward. A bright streak of light was hurtling towards me, resembling a falling star, yet it wasn't this celestial spectacle that captivated my attention. Instead, it was the ominous swarm of drones, all fixated on me.

As I peered up, I could make out the distinct silhouettes of these devices, their numbers obscenely abundant.

The moment I detected their presence, they scattered in all directions like a disturbed flock of birds.

It was clear that these machines were operating with some level of autonomy, likely programmed to track, observe, or engage with entities such as myself.

"Are they trying to follow me?" I muttered my frustration as the swarm of drones scattered into the sky.

The colossal eye had snatched Beel from right under my nose, and now this?

I wasn't about to let these pests escape without a taste of my displeasure.

A wicked grin curled on my lips as I snapped my fingers. The portal closed abruptly, sealing off. With a flick of my wings, I soared high into the sky. Hovering mid-air, I took aim, a sinister spark in my eyes.

"Dark Storm..." I muttered, and with those words, the skies darkened.

My command brought forth a malevolent tempest. Dark clouds billowed ominously, blocking the sunlight. Thunder roared. My gaze locked onto the drones swarming below, and with a menacing gesture, I unleashed the fury of the Dark Storm.

The thunderbolts descended, striking the drones one after another. Explosions lit up the darkened sky as the drones were obliterated in a blaze of sparks, plummeting to the ground like fiery rain.

But then, a massive presence made itself known. The final secret weapon, Heaven Judgment, loomed on the horizon. A celestial force of incredible power.

The deafening roar echoed through the ominous sky. This celestial weapon crackled with an otherworldly power, emitting electric sparks that danced around it like luminous spider webs, shrouding the heavens in a spectacular but terrifying display. The entire area was bathed in an eerie, pulsating light, casting menacing shadows on the ground below.
