Chapter 2 - Cultivate? You Didn’t Specify What Kind!

When Lian Wan'er woke up, the first thing she saw wasn't a lab ceiling — it was a red paper lantern swaying gently above her.

Her jaw dropped.

The room was elegantly decorated in traditional style — carved wooden panels, silk drapes, and a low tea table with a steaming pot still warm.

"…Whoa…" she breathed out, eyes sparkling."This looks exactly like those period dramas I used to binge-watch. Authentic aesthetic, 10 out of 10."

She pressed her hand against the bedding. It wasn't soft, but… not terrible either.

"Huh. Not bad. I thought I'd be sleeping on those wooden platforms stuffed with firewood, like the ones commoners used in old dramas. Guess the original me was rich?"

Just as she was enjoying her little interior design review—

BAM!

The door slammed open so hard that the window trembled.

"WAN'ER!!!"

A booming voice thundered through the air.

Lian Wan'er froze mid-sentence.A man in elegant robes stood at the doorway, his face red from either anger or hypertension.

"Last week you told me you were planting flowers! So why—WHY—did I find a whole field of Chinese cabbage in our backyard?! Are you planning to turn this Duke's Mansion into a farm?!"

Lian Wan'er blinked twice. Expressionless.

"…Last week, you told me to cultivate."She tilted her head slightly, looking genuinely confused."Isn't this… called cultivation?"

There was a long pause.

"…AUGH! My head!"The man—Lian Weiyu, Duke of Something-Or-Other and current victim of blood pressure crisis—grabbed his temples dramatically.

"Lian Weiyu!" A woman's calm voice floated in.Lady Lian, his wife, entered gracefully, sipping tea as if chaos was part of her skincare routine.

"Look at the daughter you raised! I told her to cultivate martial arts, not vegetables!" the Duke shouted.

Lady Lian didn't even blink."It's your fault for not explaining clearly," she said serenely, glancing outside at the lush garden of shiny, spirit-infused produce."But honestly, look at those vegetables. So healthy and fresh. We can save money on the market."

Then, without waiting for a reply, she turned and left.

Lian Weiyu's jaw dropped."...FINE! CULTIVATE YOUR FARM! BUT YOU'RE GROUNDED! DON'T STEP OUT OF THIS MANSION!"

SLAM!Door closed. Silence fell.

Lian Wan'er sat still on the bed, blinking slowly.

"…He said martial arts… hahahahahahaha…"Her laugh started small, then grew hysterical."Martial arts… and I grew cabbages…"

She lay back on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"…Whatever. At least I didn't blow up another lab."
