Paul looked over his profile, not seeing anything wrong but also not knowing what would qualify as wrong he said "Looks right to me I guess?" After getting registered V.C. Rene took him to the cafeteria where he would work for the rest of the voyage.

By the time they got there it was about noon and the kitchen was in full swing. You could see a man who, to Paul, looked kinda like the game character Mario directing everyone in the kitchen yelling things like "Where's the soufflé?" "I've been waiting for the entree's for 6 minutes now!" "Hurry it up!!!".

Finally when he seemed to be done yelling and ordering everyone around he made his way over to Paul and the V.C. In a bit of a huff he said "Hello V.C. Rene, what brings you down to the kitchen today?" She responded by shoving Paul a little bit forward and saying "Greetings Colonel Mario, we found you a new dishwasher after the other one got reassigned, please administer him a schedule and uniform he can start working tomorrow."

After the V.C. gave her explanation Colonel Mario seemed to be sizing me up and then smiled and said "Just call me Chef Mario it's been years since I was on active duty, all I slay now are onions and cabbages hahaha. Now my boy what's your name?"

Paul still feeling a little nervous said "Names Paul Crassus reporting for dishwashing sir!"

Mario let out a big booming laugh "Lad there's no need to be uptight just answer with a yes chef. Mathilda here will help you find a uniform and tell you your duties here. There's a battlefield of dishes waiting for you tomorrow, don't keep them waiting!"

As he said this he gestured to a rather tall woman with a short crew cut grey hair and arms that could pop a watermelon "If watermelons even still exist, what a depressing thought." Paul inner monolouged.

As Chef Mario stepped away shouting "More pepper!" and "The food won't cook it selves!" Paul was left standing in front of Mathilda who was even taller upon closer inspection and with bigger guns than most gym bros he'd seen.

Feeling her heavy stare on him he introduced himself with his best polite collègue smile "Nice to meet you I'm the new dishwasher Paul Crassus."

Mathilda with her brooding face nodded once "The ancient one they found outrunning a droanheld, I've heard about you." After a slight pause like she was weighing what to say next continued "Names Mathilda Mathis I'm in charge of keeping things clean and running here I'll take you to the back first where you can collect a uniform and then I'll show you the dishwashing bay."

With that she turned around without gesturing him to follow leaving Paul to scramble after her long strides. After coming to a wall with a what seemed to be a scanner Mathilda brought her badge to it and a space of the wall folded in on itself leading to a hallway with several doors. She explained "The halo pad you have right now can do what my badge does and serves as an ID while you are here. The fridge, pantry, and other places here in the canteen can be opened with it tomorrow."

She was sill taking long strides as she talked and quickly scanned her badge again opening up what looked like a storage closet to Paul "Eh I guess junk rooms still look the same whether in the past or now."

Mathilda wasted no time in locating a box that was full of pre packaged uniforms "These should be your size you are issued 3 sets of the uniform and are responsible for cleaning them. You are by no means allowed to come to work in a dirty uniform even if you are working in the back. I strictly enforce this rule.".

Paul quick in the uptake gave a "Yes ma'am!" realizing Mathilda is a no nonsense person and could definitely picture his head being popped like a watermelon by her muscles decided to keep any lingering questions to himself.

Mathilda gave him a once over and headed back through the doorway making her way towards the kitchen. Paul could hear Chef Mario before he saw him still flinging orders around and calling for soufflé that needed doing 15 minutes ago.

Shuffling along behind Mathilda who still kept to her lengthy strides Paul had a feeling of ease, something about being in a familiar environment again even if it looked slightly different made him feel like things were okay, he was going to be okay.

They turned a corner away from the madness of the main kitchen towards an area just as big but with far less people. There was a rotating machine going along a wall that reminded Paul of his dining hall in college one of those controtiins that was on some sort of rotating mechanisms where you can place a tray of food that would disappear behind to be cleaned and sorted. One of those things you don't notice nor the people behind the it.

The one in this kitchen though looked to be 3 or 4 times the size of the ones Paul had seen before. Realizing he had stopped walking for a second he had to scurry after Mathilda who had already approached the behemoth of the machine. She had stopped next to it and explained in her usual steady and sharp tone "This is where the dishes come through from the crews cafeteria the private guests cafeteria has an entirely seperate area. You will be handling the washing with Bernard."

She nodded over to a middle aged man in the exact same uniform Paul was currently holding 3 of. He was holding a tube that shot out high pressure liquid over a giant basin with a conveyor belt running through it full of trays. Paul couldn't guess at any materials used but it looked metallic almost like stainless steel but with less reflection and a blue green tint to it. She continued "We use a special cleaning agent to make sure all utensils, trays, and cups our crew uses are sterilized completely. It is completely safe for humans to interact with though don't get any funny ideas about drinking it that will land you in the clinic with a stomach pump. You can activate your station with your halo pad as well the hose will turn on and your work will start."

She said this with a certain finality that Paul knew that was enough of an explanation she expected him to need and all she would give. After this she ran through his daily schedule.
