The demon with two heads—one male, one female—rose slowly from its throne of blackened marble. Each step reverberated like a drumbeat through the chamber, shaking loose chunks of corrupted stone from the ceiling. Both heads spoke at once, voices overlapping into a horrifying harmony:

The male head smirked, sharp fangs glinting. The female head tilted slightly, her crimson eyes narrowing. Then their combined voice thundered:

The air snapped. A wave of demonic pressure burst outward, knocking Shellia a step back. Kaelin immediately rushed forward, his body glowing as enchantments wrapped around Shellia and the others.
