Chapter 12 - Orielle’s True Form

The crimson fox Orielle nestled in Shellia's arms began to shift, her fiery red fur rippling like living flames. Shellia's hands instinctively tightened around the small creature as she gasped, unable to believe her eyes. The light that had surrounded Orielle earlier intensified, spiraling like a vortex of divine and fiery energy.

And then, in a brilliant flash, Orielle transformed. Her small fox form elongated, limbs reshaping, and within moments, standing before Shellia was a woman—tall, graceful, and around twenty years old. Her hair flowed like molten red silk, cascading down her back, but the most shocking change was her eyes.

The eyes that once burned red with malice now glimmered a golden yellow, warm and steady, yet filled with depth and wisdom.

Shellia froze, her mouth slightly open. "Orielle…? Your eyes… why are they… yellow now? What… what are you?"

Orielle's gaze met hers. There was a calmness now, yet a strange weight of sorrow and history in her expression.

[Shellia… I am Orielle, your spirit. And yet… what you see as my form here is a reflection of both worlds.]

Shellia blinked, confused. "Wait… reflection? What do you mean? If you are my spirit, then why… why were you the boss of the dungeon just now?"

Orielle's golden eyes softened, but her tone remained firm.

[The dungeon you faced, the one you purified… that space exists in the spirit world differently from your human world. The shadow you fought was not me, not my true self. It was the remnants of what I was… what I became in the first world.]

Shellia shook her head, trying to process the words. "First world… you mean… another life?"

Yuki floated beside her, his small form glowing softly. [Lia, listen carefully. The spirit world does not follow human rules of time and life. What you call reincarnation is only a fraction of the truth. In the spirit realm, all your past lives are linked—though in the human world, they appear separate.]

Orielle stepped closer, her golden eyes steady on Shellia's. [In the first world, Shellia… you died before completing your duty to protect it. That world fell, consumed by the demon invasion. I, who was destined to guard you as your spirit, became corrupted. The red eyes you saw in the dungeon were a manifestation of that corruption—the darkness that tainted my essence when your life ended prematurely.]

Shellia's chest tightened. Her mind spun with the thought of another world, one she could not remember, and a spirit guardian corrupted by darkness. "So… the Orielle I just fought… it wasn't really you?"

Orielle's voice softened. [It was a shadow… a fragment of what I might have been. The contamination from the demon power in the first world shaped me into that… form. But now, because you have returned, because your life has continued, my true essence has been restored.]

Yuki hovered closer, his blue eyes reflecting a mixture of admiration and pride. [Lia, your power is extraordinary. Two lifetimes' strength, converged. That force cleansed Orielle's essence in a flash. The red eyes were the sign of corruption, the shadow of what the first world left behind. Now… she is whole.]

Shellia stared at Orielle, who now looked entirely human, though there was something ethereal about her presence. "So… you were always meant to be my spirit. But then… why did the dungeon… why did you appear as the final boss?"

Orielle lowered her gaze, a faint sadness touching her golden eyes. [Because the demon's corruption had claimed my essence, the dungeon reflected that. My darkness became the challenge you faced. In the spirit realm, all spaces are echoes of what exists in the human world. My corrupted form was inevitable in the dungeon where past world shadows lingered.]

Shellia's fingers brushed Orielle's hair, warm even though it had once been the source of fear. "But… you're… you're really me… guarding me now, right? Not corrupted anymore?"

Orielle's lips curved into a gentle, reassuring smile. [Yes, Shellia. I am your Orielle now, restored. But remember… the past world's events shape this world's spirits. My past corruption is gone, yet the memory of it will always linger. It serves as a warning of what happens when a Spirit Beloved's life ends before their duty is fulfilled.]

Shellia took a deep breath, her hands clutching Orielle gently. The weight of responsibility, the memories of her past life, and the potential dangers of this world pressed upon her chest, but she also felt a new warmth—the assurance of her spirits at her side.

Yuki floated forward, voice earnest. [Lia, Orielle is not just a companion. She's your power, your light, and your guide. Together, with my healing and her fire, no demon or corruption can touch you.]

Orielle extended a hand, and Shellia felt a surge of energy coursing through her. [Shellia… you must understand. The first world was lost because I was tainted by darkness. That shadowed form you purified was not me, but it was part of the chain reaction caused by your absence. Now, in this second life, your choices determine whether the past's tragedies will repeat.]

Shellia's voice was barely a whisper. "So… everything I do now… it matters for the past world too?"

[Exactly.] Orielle's golden eyes shone with an intensity that made Shellia's heart race. [The demon invasion you prevented today was just a beginning. If you falter… if the balance shifts… shadows may rise again. You must grow stronger, harness your divine purification, and trust in the bond we share.]

Shellia nodded, determination igniting in her chest. Her eyes, bright blue, reflected her resolve. "I understand… Orielle. I won't let the past world's mistakes repeat. We will protect this world together."

Orielle's form shimmered, a golden-red aura radiating from her. [That's my Shellia. Together, we will reclaim what was lost.]

Yuki floated between them, excitement twinkling in his eyes. [Lia… Orielle's return means our team is complete… well, for now. We can gather more spirits, but this… this is your core strength. Fire and light combined.]

Shellia's gaze swept across Orielle and Yuki, her heart swelling with newfound purpose. The dungeon's oppressive shadows now felt distant, almost irrelevant, compared to the power and companionship she felt.

Orielle stepped closer, speaking softly. [You may wonder why I appeared as the dungeon's final boss… why I seemed so hostile. Remember, in the spirit world, space and time are layered. The dungeon reflected what was left behind from the past world's corruption. The demon's influence twisted my form, but it also gave you the chance to awaken your divine strength, Shellia. That confrontation… it was fate, designed to prepare you.]

Shellia tilted her head, the weight of realization settling on her shoulders. "So… the demon's invasion in this world… it's not because of me or Yuki, right?"

[Yuki?] Orielle's tone was firm but gentle. [No. The demons always sought to dominate the human world. Their emergence is inevitable. But a Spirit Beloved, one with true spirits like us, is the key to resisting them. That is why we were connected to you, Shellia. Not to bring you danger, but to ensure the world is protected.]

Shellia exhaled slowly, a mixture of relief and awe filling her chest. "So… the demon's power… it didn't corrupt Orielle this time. We're safe."

[Safe, for now.] Orielle's golden eyes glimmered with quiet caution. [The past world's shadow remains a lesson. There will be more trials, more adversaries who wish to exploit the chaos. But together… we are strong. I will not let you face anything alone.]

Shellia smiled, the warmth of companionship spreading through her. "I won't let anything happen to either of you. We'll face everything together."

Yuki floated higher, his small body radiating divine light. [Yes, Lia! Orielle, Shellia, and I—we are unstoppable! The first world's mistakes won't happen again!]

Orielle chuckled softly, a sound like gentle flames. [Then let us continue, Spirit Beloved. Your path is only beginning, and the dungeon was just the first trial. More spirits, more challenges, and yes… more growth await. Are you ready, Shellia?]

Shellia nodded firmly, gripping Orielle's hand as Yuki flitted beside her. "I'm ready. I've learned from the past, and now… with both of you, nothing can stop us. Let's protect this world together."

A soft wind stirred in the dungeon, carrying faint whispers from beyond—echoes of the spirit realm and remnants of the first world. But Shellia felt no fear. She had Orielle, the restored guardian spirit, and Yuki, the ever-loyal healer. Together, they were unstoppable, and the lessons of the past only strengthened their resolve.

Orielle's golden eyes met Shellia's, and for the first time, Shellia felt the true weight of her role—not as a solitary noble, but as the Spirit Beloved, the one chosen to protect both the present and echoing shadows of the past.

[Let us move forward, Shellia.]

Shellia's heart surged with power and purpose. "Yes… together."

The three of them stepped out of the room, leaving behind the shadows of the corrupted dungeon and stepping
