"WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING OVER THERE!" The Grand Elder shouted, "THEY HAVE THE EMPIRE PUSH FORWARD OR SIGN A PEACE TREATY! WHY ARE THEY JUST NEGOTIATING! WE CAN PUSH TERMS! AND WHY ARE THE BUNNY-KIN REJECTING OUR GOLD!"
The words went over a silence that spoke more than the anger. All of us understood what the elder was saying, and we all agreed with them. The problem was the Bunny-kin. Those fucking Bunny fucking pricks. Those slut fuckers were just sitting back and even ignoring the gold we offered them now.
"The Bunny-kin are now ignoring our attempts to help fund the War effort. They say they can afford to feed just an army sitting still for now. They will come to us when they need funds. For now, we can keep our gold." The words were hard-hitting and brutal.
It wasn't like they said that in private either. They had publicly said it in front of an Elders meeting between tribes. The Dog-kin, the Cat-kin, the badger-kin, and so many other smaller tribes that had Elders were there. They heard the declaration that we never helped fund the war, only sent fighters. Not a single grain was now accredited to our Dragonic tribe like it had been before. Businesses run by smaller tribes increased their prices and sent the increased revenue to the fucking Bunny-kin to do their part.
It was insane, and the Grand Elder was the last holdout who finally changed their mind, finally. It was not even three months since he told us to change to funding them, but now it is. Now the war was essentially over. No one could have guessed that the Empire would fuck up like this. Not just sit in position, but to fuck up by the numbers and do their best to nuke their ability to fight in a war. It was astonishing, and frankly, it was bad for us, the Dragonic.
We were now in a hopeless position.
"Grand Elder," I finally said, my voice dark, "We need to change perception. The Supreme Commander of the Elite Army and the Logistics Army is universally loved. Well, not loved, but very well liked. She is bringing in tribes to the Bunny-kin tribe and making them equals. Accepting them into Education centers and mingling among the masses, weak and strong alike. This is not Typical Bunny-kin behavior. She does not seek only the strong, and is widening her reach to many places at the same time. While doing so, she has also shown accomplishment in both war and diplomacy. Even now, the Bunny-kin in charge of the Demon Lands sings praises about the massive change in perception there. We were on the brink of massive diplomatic losses there, it seems, according to our insiders, and within months, through breeding and diplomatic maneuvering, they did the unthinkable. She brought forces from both the Succubi and the Devils to act as Mercenaries. She mobilized the Demon Lands to combat the pirate infestation and sparked a massive revitalization of trade between our nations. The Number of ships coming into harbors now bringing food for the war effort is just a small thing. They are buying things to go back with which is one of the reasons that the damn Bunny-kin can afford to waste so much gold on the war effort."
The summary of the situation plunged another rainfall of cold water on the situation. "Goddess forbid, she is also a Loveknot, and has been made the Heir, so she has increased visibility among the Bunny-kin. She is at the level of a Goddess herself when she killed those rich families' kids in the middle of the streets despite their protests. She is the Incarnation of Justice for the Army. We need to get ahead of this; our reputation among the tribes is at an all-time low. We cannot let this keep up. Even if we have to bribe the other tribes elders."
"Then that is what we will do, it seems time we started to beat a stick over the simple masses," The Grand Elder said quickly, making a decision, and I frowned. "We will start to bribe the Elders of other Tribes, including the Bunny-kin Tribe. We need to start undercutting their popularity."
"Difficult," I said, wincing as the Grand Elder turned to me, his eyes sharp, and I felt a stab of mana in me gripping my heart.
"Explain!" The Grand Elder snapped, and the whole table looked at the exchange warily, not wanting to be involved.
"Grand Elder, she is everywhere, including talking to other tribes. In order to bribe those tribes' Elders, we would need to open up the Dragons Den to the young tribe members of other races. She has started to promise Education to other tribes, and they care more for having their whole tribe prosper."
The Grand Elders' faces turned dark.
The tension in the room built, and my eyes widened as the mana started to solidify. I choked the Grand Elders' mana, turning thicker and thicker, choking even some of the recent A-rank Elders as he expressed his unhappiness with his mana. I gasped, the world spun, then suddenly the mana departed, and he cooled down or regained control of his mana. It was only seconds, but every B ranker was left gasping around the table.
Still, no one talked as the Grand Elder stared at me.
"Everyone, You have one week, ONE DAMN WEEK. I want five different plans of action to change our reputation, or at least mitigate what this Supreme Commander has done, or," He paused and glared at everyone. "We solve the root of the problem. Dismissed."
I paled as he finished his sentence, and so did the B rankers. Moving an A ranker for killing a B ranker would destroy the cohesiveness of the Beast-kin Nation. We already barely kept everything in check, but killing the Supreme Commander with her reputation? That would isolate us at a minimum, if not start a new war with even our own people against us. The Elders of other tribes would easily gather behind the Bunny-kin tribe. It was a stupid solution, and I could only sweat as I looked lost at the other B rankers around the Elder council table.
My heart chilled as I saw them all looking just as lost as I was.
