Chapter 153: Homeward
Old Greyeye Fortress,
Vass's POV,
By the time the sun began to dip below the tree line, the fortress was quiet except for the steady thud of iron tools against stone.
Torug and the main force had already been gone for two hours, riding hard toward the town before anything happens. Left behind, Hogg was already tracking the workload despite still recovering. Rebuilding the cracked foundation was one thing, but the talks of moving the Greyeye civilians out of the nearby village had to start soon. If they were going to be converted into Black Moon followers, they couldn't stay out in the open where the migrating Bronsaurs could pick them off.
From the watchtower behind the fortress, you could see a glimpse of the nearby Greyeye village. Thin columns of smoke curled lazily from cooking fires, and crude huts.
Hogg let out a quiet breath.
It wouldn't last.
