Time seemed to pass unbearably slow for Balin and Ray. Perhaps it was the suspense or their tired minds but their perception of their surroundings was also beginning to waver.
"So much for being super powered…" Ray chastised the struggling Balin.
"I've been doing most of the fighting here…" Balin struck back with a complaint.
As they had guessed, the monster had changed tactics to cutting them off. This meant that each time they would have to try and bypass it in the narrow cavern paths.
"This is costing us too much" The reason they could relax at the moment was due to the fact that the monster had gone ahead anew.
"Let's just dig a path straight to your so-called Garden" Ray suggested.
"It's still nearby, it never runs too far ahead" Balin wanted to do the same thing but that would cause his mana to run out faster and the monster would still cut them off, they would just have even less space to maneuver.
