He Jingyao furrowed his brow, "Who is dragging whom down, exactly? Are you sure you didn't get that backwards, huh?"
Zhixi paused for a moment, slightly bewildered as she looked up.
"If I hadn't been so aggressive, Zhuo Yuwei wouldn't have targeted you and your father," He Jingyao said hoarsely. "It's me who has dragged you into this trouble."
"But, but at first..."
"Shush, there was no 'at first.'" His Adam's apple bobbed, "The explosion back then was his doing. Of course, I won't let him get away with it."
Zhixi clutched his collar, frowning as she tried to sort out the complicated cause and effect.
"Stop thinking about these things, okay?" He Jingyao drew her closer into his embrace, "Yesterday, you were forced to entertain Zhuo Han, and I wasn't by your side. Do you think I should blame myself?"
