Seeing her nervous, Korea lifted his chin in pride, "Miss Niannian's mother must be overjoyed to know that Miss Niannian is marrying such a successful man as my uncle."
This comment was clearly sarcastic; no parent would wish for their daughter to marry a man old enough to be her father.
Not being infuriated enough to faint was already a sign of a strong heart; how could one possibly be happy about it?
And Anning ignored Korea's mockery; she still looked anxiously at Charles, "Mr. Charles, are you saying you sent someone to pick up my mother?"
For some reason, when Charles said that, her first reaction was to worry about whom he'd picked up.
"Yes, since your father has passed, she's all alone. It's the perfect time to have her stay here for a while, what's wrong with that?" Charles spread his arms, feeling quite thoughtful and considerate.
Knowing that Charles had picked up her mother from City C, Ji Anning breathed a sigh of relief.
