Upon hearing those words, Ji Anning immediately felt she could find no place to hide her shame.
She lowered her head, her eyes stinging sourly as she blinked several times before tears began to fall.
Ji Chicheng's voice once again rang in her ear, "Perhaps my patience with you is unlimited, but our lives are not."
His tone was calm, and his voice was still pleasant to hear, but Ji Anning detected an undertone of helplessness and wistfulness.
Her heart tightened, and she turned around, raised her hand to wrap around Ji Chicheng's neck, and sniffed, "Uncle."
Their lives spanned but a few decades, and the time they could spend together was already so brief, so why bother with so much, why still waste it?
She choked up and said, "Let's return to M country tomorrow, can we? Can we stay together forever afterward?"
"Yes." Ji Chicheng nodded, his warm palm lightly patting Ji Anning's back.
