There was interference from the Dragon Realm, or, to be more exact, Zonaras and Iandra did something to alter the event. It was not a game-changing alteration, just a minor change so it didn't trigger any defensive mechanism in the System. The culprit seemed to know the ins and outs of how not to trigger that.
The change was simple. Tang Shaoyang would be marked, and then he would be put in the same dimensional space with the people who wanted him dead, whether it was mercenaries or even the Nirvana Alliance and the God Order's people.
Of course, Zonaras and Iandra also had their descendants join the God Realm Champion just to kill him. That was their only goal in joining the God Realm Champion. The Ten Stars Accord and possibly the Vigamaur Dgaror were part of this group as well. So yeah, it meant he would be put together with his enemy, alone against all his enemies.
