That afternoon, Clara returned home with her husband. Clara realized that Mr. K and Prof. Hans's previous conversation had been serious. She could sense that her husband's mood wasn't exactly "fine."
A sense of doubt and fear had been haunting Mr. K since the father-son conversation ended.
Honestly, Clara wanted to try to ignore what was happening to her husband and give him some time to mull it over. However, Clara's curiosity grew, and with some hesitation, she spoke when they both lay down to rest after being away for almost a day.
"Honey, don't you want to tell me anything about your conversation with Papa?" Clara asked, trying to remain objective and tactful in her communication.
For a moment, Mr. K's eyes focused on Clara, his mouth still closed, and soon he made a small gesture for Clara to come closer and embrace him.
Clara, understanding her husband's small gesture, naturally complied.
