What was wrong with that guy? Did he think that the whole world revolved around him? Did he believe he was so mighty that he could do this to me? He always made sure I remembered my position in this house, and now he was even forbidding me from being close to my best friend? Who did you think you were, Claude? Ah, no one liked such an overbearing CEO, but in this material world, money is number one, and affection is number two.
Everyone doesn't mind marrying an older man for his wealth and a comfortable life in the future. Money is significant for continuing your life, but it never guarantees happiness. If it could give you bliss, then no one would care about how handsome or cool you were. Ah, this world is corrupted by money, and everyone's eyes are blind in front of wealth and status.
Love is blind, and we can't choose who we fall in love with, but blindness is not a reason to keep your eyes closed forever. Sometimes, blindness is useful to keep you on track and help you move on from bad memories. But who cared about such a bastard? Still, not eating this cake just because Claude brought it wasn't a good enough reason. Yeah, the cake is innocent, so who cares about the one who bought it?
Cole looked at Mio's happy face, and he gritted his teeth. He didn't plan to tell Mio his feelings, but that didn't mean he could stay calm seeing her hurt by the guy she liked.

Claude closed his heavy eyes, and his last memories kept coming back like poison that would kill him slowly. Why had he done things he would regret in the future? But Claude couldn't erase anything he had done in the past. He also understood that no girl would want to return to a scumbag who ignored and trampled on her feelings. But he didn't want to give up just because of past mistakes.
Claude walked out and stood beside the stairs, looking down. His eyes saw Mio eating the cake he bought, happily. Claude also knew that throwing food away wasn't Mio's character. She would never do such a thing, which was why he hadn't coaxed her to keep the cake. Why had their relationship ended up like this?
If he had been gentle in the past, he could be doing lovey-dovey things with Mio right now, feeding her the cake. But there is no medicine for regret, and he could only grit his teeth in frustration. Claude turned back to his bedroom and closed the door gently. If he could, he would change the past—but he couldn't do anything at all.

Milly saw that Claude had brought the favorite cake of her young lady, and she felt dissatisfied. What did he want? Did he want to kill my lady by poisoning the cake?
"Young lady, don't eat the cake—who knows what's inside?" Milly said, alarmed.
"Why do you have such bad thoughts?" I frowned when I heard Milly's words.
"Claude is not a good man, so maybe he wants to kill you," Milly replied.
"Or you can let me eat it first, so you won't be harmed by unknown food like this," Milly added enthusiastically.
"Did you watch palace dramas again lately? And what benefit would he get from poisoning me? I'm not someone who's a threat to him or someone who could hurt him. Like I said before, I'm just an ant that can't hurt a baby tiger, let alone the tiger's father," I calmly responded.
"We live in real life, not in a palace drama where I should guard against my husband's concubines. Claude and I aren't married, so why should I be afraid of his concubine?" I added.
"But we don't know if he has a concubine or not," Milly said.
"So you want to say he has a mistress out there? Let me ask you, Milly—Is that my problem if he keeps a mistress? Did you forget my status in this house? I'm just air, without any weight. So you want me to be angry if what you say is true?
No, I don't want to be involved in his life anymore. We can live separately from now on," I said without any discomfort in my heart. I tried to let him go, but a part of my heart still kept calling his name—shamefully.
I didn't know what to do anymore about him.
"Mio, are you all right?" Mom asked me. I didn't even know when they had arrived, but Mom was already standing in front of me.
"You bought your favorite cakes?" Mom added.
"They were bought by Claude," I said without any happiness in my tone.
"When did you arrive, Mom? Were you out dating with Dad again? It's not fair to go on a date without me," I pouted quietly.
"This girl, who told you we were dating? We went to prepare your wedding gift," Dad answered with a small chuckle.
"A wedding gift?" I couldn't believe what I heard.
"Claude didn't tell you that you two will move out of this house and start living independently as a newly married couple?" Dad said with a smile on his face.
"Can't we live with you? We don't have to move out, right?" I asked anxiously.
"I know you're nervous about living alone with Claude, but I felt the same way when I married your dad on the first day," Mom said, hugging me to ease my anxiety.
Then I heard something even more shocking than the news about us living together.
"You'll get your marriage certificate and move out tomorrow. Are you happy, Mio?" Dad asked me cheerfully.
I just smiled lightly, neither agreeing nor denying it. I turned my head upstairs and saw Claude smiling happily at me. This guy was doing this deliberately again. What did he want from me? Wasn't it enough for him to hurt my feelings already?
