Evening came. The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple. The city lights flickered to life, one by one, until the streets glowed with warm light.
Alex returned first. He bathed in the hot spring, washing away the dust and blood of the wyrm. He dressed in soft robes and waited on the balcony, watching the city.
Saeko returned next. She bathed, dressed, and joined him. She stood beside him, her hand finding his.
Artemia returned last. She bathed, dressed, and joined them. She leaned against Alex's side, her head on his shoulder.
They did not speak. There was no need.

The meal was waiting—a feast prepared by the hotel's chef. Roasted meat, fresh vegetables, crusty bread. A bottle of aged wine, dark and smooth. A dessert of honeyed pastries and fresh fruit.
They ate in the living room, the city lights twinkling beyond the glass. The fire crackled in the hearth. The wine warmed their bellies.
