The 2 thieves had their sword in their sheaths and did not expect an attack, they approached the lowest place in the natural earth wall that Jack and the soldiers were in, Jack took a small knife that he used to clean the animals they killed to eat.
As soon as the two soldiers approached Jack quickly climbed over the dirt wall to the highest part of the path, Jack caught one of the thieves and hanged him by putting his arms around this thief's neck.
"What is it? Who are you."
The other thief was shocked and asked who Jack was, the other soldiers took this chance and moved quickly and two soldiers attacked with their swords the soldier who did not know what he was doing.
Before the soldier could react his head came out of his neck, one of the most skilled soldiers beheaded him without mercy, Jack had no way of saying that he wanted to capture the two thieves alive.
So Jack captured one of the thieves before the soldiers could kill him, Jack put the knife to the soldier's neck that he captured who was shocked to see his friend's death happening so quickly.
"You are going to say everything I want to know, otherwise some of my soldiers will torture you and you will be in a lot of pain before you end up dead like your friend."
"Who are you?"
"We are soldiers from the kingdom of Andaria, you started to create a dangerous group of thieves on this mountain, did you really think the king would allow you to steal and do what you wanted forever?"
The thief was too scared to know that the enemies who killed his friend were soldiers, Jack ordered the soldiers to bury the dead thief's body and clean the place so that the thieves would not know what happened.
Jack took the captured soldier to a place close to where they were, it was a place that was still covered by trees and so thieves would not find them so easily, Jack put the thief tied to one of the trees and left him alone.
Jack had realized that this thief he captured was a bit of a coward, but he had to make the thief even more afraid so that he could quickly speak what Jack wanted to know before the thieves realized that someone had disappeared.
After a while Jack came back to the captured thief along with the soldiers who knew how to interrogate and knew how to torture as well, these soldiers brought torture equipment that they brought and left on the ground near where the thief was.
"Do you know what these devices are for? These are torture equipment, with this equipment these soldiers can make you feel a pain that you never imagined, and with so much pain you will want to say everything you know to not feel more pain."
"But I realized that you are a smart man, you will not want to feel too much pain just to tell me the information I already know, I just want you to confirm some things and say the few things that I don't know and so you will not feel pain."
"So, are you going to say everything I ask?"
"Yes, I say everything I know, but I don't want to be in pain, but I don't know many things."
"We will find out, these soldiers are also very skilled at finding out liars, so if you lie they will have to make you feel like you are going to learn that it is better to you tell the truth."
"What is the name of the leader of the thieves' base?"
"It's Hector, his name is Hector and he has an agreement with some nobles from the kingdom of Andaria, after making this agreement he became much stronger and my boss said that Hector is capable of facing some knights with his strength."
Jack and the other soldiers were shocked to hear this, Jack had not told the soldiers that the nobles were involved with the mountain robbers, so the soldiers were very surprised to hear that.
Jack was surprised to learn that Hector had a strength similar to the knights, he and Captain Max had thought that was possible, but Jack did not want to believe that noble families would make such a deal.
It wasn't because Jack trusted the noble families, but it was because the fencing techniques of the knights' families are the only thing that families have to be called nobles, so the knights didn't want to pass their technique on to the army.
Handing these fencing techniques over to the thieves was even worse than handing the techniques over to the army, but from what the thief said it seemed true, this fight against the thieves would be more difficult than Jack thought.
"How many thieves do you have on that basis?"
"I don't know exactly, but my boss says there are more than 240 thieves, there are no more than 250 thieves."
This information confirmed what they already knew and gave a more accurate number of thieves, if they had 240 thieves it would be easier to kill them than if it was almost 300 that they expected for the worst.
"Do those more than 240 thieves you said also include robbers from Robin's group?"
"No, I realized as soon as you captured me that Robin's group is dead so I excluded them, before at the base there were almost 280 thieves, there are thieves from Robin's group and others who died too."
Jack had realized that this thief was really very smart, he made it look like he didn't know how many thieves were at the base, but in fact, he had already excluded the thieves from Robin's group.
Jack wasn't going to trust all the information this thief said, which is why he asked only the things he knew, just the two information he got was what he needed to start organizing a plan.
"I have a few more questions to ask you, you said your boss didn't like Hector very much, who is your boss? And how bosses are chosen on the basis of thieves."
"My boss's name is Adrien, he is the boss of the second largest group of thieves you have on the mountain, in my boss's group there are 49 thieves, 48 now that you have killed my friend."
"The biggest mountain boss is Jasper, he has a group of 54 thieves, but the thieves who are in his group were selected from other groups a few years ago and are the best mountain warriors."
"So even though my boss's group was similar in numbers, my boss never had the courage to challenge Jasper, Jasper is also a friend of Hector who is the leader of all the bosses on the mountain, so no one challenges Hector."
"In addition to these two groups there are several smaller groups with more than 20 thieves, Robin's group was the one who was allowed to leave the mountain this time, but now they must be dead."
