Chapter 19 - Maybe you don't reap what you sow

Just as Lex had expected the moment Jace reappeared alongside Lex's father things began to change. Wind that wasn't there before begin to reak havoc on the place. Holding Lana Lex looked at his captor.

"Do you feel that, something deep inside of you about to break? You're too tired to and lack the energy required to hold four people in your shadow realm." Lex yelled over the wind as he stepped closer towards his captor pulling Lana alongside him.

"What are you talking about?" Jace asked but he already knew the answer. Lex was right he could feel it, his place of escape was beginning to break. Looking at his three hostages he wondered what he should do?

"Take her out of here, she doesn't belong here anyways. This is between the three of us," Lex yelled hoping that Jace would agree.

Reaching behind him Jace pulled the imaginary door open, "Go through."

Lana hurried through reappearing in Lex's office, she didn't wait immediately running behind his desk. Grabbing the cord Lex called a usb she plugged it into the device before reaching for Lex's office phone.

"I need security in Lex Luthor's office Now," She didn't leave though. She couldn't not when she knew that Lex could be lost inside forever. To think that just earlier today she was thinking about leaving him and now she couldn't bear the thought of losing him.

Inside the Shadow Realm

As the door closed Lex nodded, things had worked out just as he had planned. Without B2 he would have had to risk taking Jace head on. Now there was a fifty percent chance that things would be alright.

"Lex what the hell is going on?" Lionel looked down at his son, "What's your plan, drag me to another realm and kill me?"

"You reap what you sow dad, keeping 33.1 open behind my back is what brought us here. Now we're both paying the price of your sins." Taking a step back Lex couldn't help but laugh as he saw Lionel's face went pale.

"33.1 I thought you shut that place down months ago, are you telling me that you've been secretly keeping it open?" Lionel was quick to rebuttal never on the losing end of a conversation.

"You can't talk your self out of this one dad, look behind you recognize him?" Lex looked at Jace his kidnapper but his attention was truly on his father. He could instantly see his eyes go wide as he took a close look at Jace, he recognized him but hid it well.

"He's a courier right?" Lionel asked and Lex almost laughed again. His father was good at using context clues, anyone could tell by his clothes that he was a courier.

"I escaped from 33.1, one of you two are at fault for the torture I experienced. And one of you two are going to shut it down." This time Lex didn't even care that the gun was pointed in his direction.

"Well my son is the only one that can authorize such a place to exist, why am I here?" Lionel asked faking his confusion.

"Because like you said earlier I shut down 33.1 months ago, and the only other person with the power to make such an authorization is you." Lex replied as laid back as ever.

"What would I gain from the continuation of 33.1?"

"What wouldn't you gain father? Power, fame, recognition," Lex asked.

"All things I already have," Lionel cracked a smile in response.

"Enough!" Jace yelled clenching his gun tighter. "It doesn't matter if neither of you can admit it then you'll both die. This way someone who actually cares can run Luthorcorp." Placing his thumb on trigger Jace was about to pull the trigger when a flash of light blinded everyone.

"Lex," his eyes were still blurry but he could hear her voice, Lana's voice. Seconds later he felt her arms wrap around his waist.

"Lana?" He questioned wondering if it was real, blinking and closing his eyes for a couple of seconds his vision began to turn to normal.

"It worked Lex, it worked," Lana's voice was full of happiness and Lex found it contagious.

Finally being able to see again he realized they were back in his office, Lionel leaned against his desk still his eyes closed. Looking to his right he found Jace standing there, his eyes had already adapted but he was confused.

"It was you," He let out a furious yell as he raised his gun at Lana.

It was in an instant but Lex had already placed her behind him, he didn't feel pain when the bullet entered his body. It was more like he was watching it happen, the bullet entering his shoulder, him falling to the ground. Lana letting out a scream of terror and shock, Jace raising his gun to shoot again. It was too late though the security had already arrived filling him with bullet holes before he could shoot again.

"Lex, Lex, please be alright, call for help!"Lana yelled at the security guards and they quickly reacted. She climbed onto the ground next to lex holding him tightly as tears fell from her eyes. "You're gonna be alright Lex, you're gonna be alright."

Lex opened his eyes not surprised to find himself lying in his own bed. His right shoulder was bandaged and his arm was immobilized using a shoulder sling. Using his other hand he raised himself up, looking around the room he realized he was alone. Next to him the bed was made, Lana had likely slept elsewhere. In her place was the silver back of the Ipod touch that housed Brainiac 2.0. Picking up the phone he found it odd having to use his left hand instead of his right.

"B2, thank you for your help back there," Lex said knowing that he wouldn't have made it through that without B2's help.

[You don't need to thank me for doing what I was programmed to do, but you're welcome…]

Lex kicked his legs off the bed, exiting the room. "B2, continue looking through the Luthorcorp files, I need to clean up my father's mess before it comes back to bite me in the ass again."

[It shall be done]

Nodding Lex continued down the hall, he ordered the chefs to make breakfast as usual as he headed to his office. He could see the light from the fire, the moment he opened the door. Lana was seated on the couch a blanket wrapped around her as she stared into the fire. "You looking for something in particular?" He asked drawing her attention.

Lana's eyes went wide as she looked at him, standing up she didn't fight the tears as she wrapped her arms around him pulling him into a hug. "You're awake."

Lex ignored the pain in his arm instead holding Lana tightly. "I'm awake."
