Chapter 34 - Turmoil unveiling

She reminded herself that this was just a dream and that she needed to wake uo but this, the women infront of her was still calling to her for help beneath the hollow eyes and wicked smile.

"Why Princess"

She straddled her so that she had nowhere else to go. Her lifeless eyes stared accusingly at her.

Wasn't it enough that she already blamed herself?

"Listen to me Sasha . . . Im sorry I let him hurt you the first time but what you're doing right now isn't going to help anyone. It only serves as aiding him in his quest to bring me down" she thought fast and fired each word after another in succession.

"I am only here because of you. You ruined my life and for what? A grudge? Petsonal Vendetta? . . . oh wait, you don't even know" she suddenly said as if she just realised something recently.

"Know what?" she was getting puzzled and that was just darn right disturbing.

"It won't matter now that you're about to meet your maker sweetheart. Can't you see, I'm giving you the easy way out . . . while my soul remains someone's possession, yours will rest in eternal peace. A privilege that I can only imagine for myself but I can never touch it . . . allow me to save you Princess"

That didnt sound right, infact it sounded psychotic. This woman was enraged but more so, she was deranged especially if she thought that she was going to kill her that easily. It was clear to her now that the Sasha she knew was long gone but for some reason, this hollow shell had come to haunt her. She felt the evil intent oozing out of her every pore and the madness driving her, cleary visible in her lifeless eyes.

"I presume you have come to kill me . . . why all the act then?" she asked feeling the intent between them steadily become resolute.

"I just wanted to know if you would still care or if you ever cared at all. Did you mourn my death?" she suddenly asked.

She had been unsure of many things in her life when she met Sasha but she was sure she had never given the woman a feeling that she had ulterior motives, simply because she didnt. Why was she saying all this? Who had been feeding her misinformation? Why was she even asking when the answer was right infron of her . . . that prick was a cold smile is breaking Sasha by making her believed they were not real, that what they had shared was . . . she couldn't even fathom half the things he whispered to her, all to turn them agaisnt each other while claiming Sasha's soul for all eternity. The only thing she was sure of was the fact she hadn't taken a single life with her two hands and the moment she does, she will be sealing her fate with the Vengeful Lord.

"Sasha, you can still get out of this. We can still fix this" she dragged the word 'we' to let her know she is willing to help, "He is just trying to spite you by making you a coldblooded killer. What do you think will happen to you after killing me? Don't you know that no murder's soul ever rests in peace? I am nothing but a test subject to him but for you, I will be the seal to your fate. You will be doomed to eternal darkness . . . he is trying to turn you into a killing machine because guess what, after killing me for the reasons he gave you . . .you think he will stop? You would've proven to him that you can kill in cold blood and then there will be more killings and before you know it, bloodshed will be the only thing you live for. Is that what you want Sasha?"

She saw a ghost of the woman she used to know flicker in her eyes. She looked torn and conflicted. It seems there were factors to being a loyal soldier of Rudrik that she wasn't aware of. She had heard whispers of blame and hate which had fuelled vengeance to reign supreme in her mind and then Rudrik had brainwashed her without her evwn realising what was being done to her. She knitted her brows and hung her head low in a dejected manner.

"What other alternatives does someone like me have Dana" her voice had the unmistakable shed of humanity . . .

She did it!

She had undone the whispers of vengeance clouding her thinking.

"You can allow yourself to move on and make space for your soul to rest in peace. Your family couldn't find closure when your body was nowhere to be seen. They were forced to bury your name but nothing more but if you choose yourself before vengeance then you can get both giving your family closure and your soul resting in peace"

"He said there is no walking away from him . . . that there is no escape. He said that there is nowhere and no one hidden from him" Silent tears streamed down from her troubled face.

"So he threatened you before drilling your head with toxic thoughts" she felt disgusted and just stupefied. Has he never heard of boundaries or at least tactics before? " Let me make this up to you Sasha. I let you down once and hurt a lot of people but now its up to you to grant me the chance to make this right. I can not raise the dead but I can make sure your death is dignified and avenged when the time comes"

She marvelled at how thongs had turned out in her favour and agin, grateful that the first person Rudrik had sent Sasha to kill was her . . . her first love and her first kiss.

"How can you promise me such a thing after he swore I was trapped?"

She still had unwavering fear of the dark lord but she was feeling something else now, hope. She wanted to at least make her death purposeful and give her family closure and she sure as hell wanted peace for her soul. She was no hitman or was it hitwomen . . . whatever it was but she couldn't be one in her miserable death.

"I only have a short time left . . . I am sorry I let him get to me, I was so miserable and he took full advantage of that and tried to turn me against us. I am glad my last moments were spent with you"

She didn't know how much emotion she could wear on her face, without triggering the soldier in her that was following an order.

"I wasn't sure what we were doing at first but I knew it's what I wanted Sasha. It was real. You are real to me" she confessed honestly.

"The park . . . I will only be there for the next hour. I am trusting you with this and if we fail-"

"We won't" she said in absolute certainty.

She flickered in and out as if all this time had been a scene in a tv show that has ran it time and she shot up from her bed, fully drenched in sweat.

"Sasha"

She whispered softly and it all felt like dejavu all over again.
