The shadow of impending war persisted over everyone's heads. No one knew the exact situation. Five days had passed without any movement; it could only mean that once it erupted, the situation would be dire.
Duan Yanran had been waiting continuously, yet nothing came.
"No movement yet?" Duan Yanran called Zhong Emperor over.
"No, it's the same in other places as well," replied Zhong Emperor.
Upon hearing this, Duan Yanran pondered deeply. Not a single place had any battles occurring, which shouldn't be the case.
"Have we checked below? Perhaps they didn't come from above but are taking a detour through the ground, using earth-tunneling techniques. That's possible too," Duan Yanran asked.
This possibility existed and was quite significant.
"No, I've stationed people to watch below. Even underneath The City, we have eyes, and there's no one there either," Zhong Emperor confirmed.
Very strange indeed.
Yet Mr. Lan said nothing, quietly sipping his tea.
