Days in Thousands Beast Forest went smoothly, the group would walk searching for some beast to level up, and when they encounter a troublesome enemy with troublesome abilities, they would gang up and defeat it. They would be some earthquake from time to time but it didn't stop their advancement, Melanie had level up twice since she entered the forest , the first when battling the python, the second was thanks to the honorable sacrifice of the red horned monkeys , she added her stats points in strength, agility and sense , she also acquired wind , earth and water infinity, increasing once more her combat capabilities , as long as she had enough mana , she could either control the element in the surrounding, or create it , but the last option consume a lot of mana thus , she usually depends more on her earth and wood infinity in the forest . When the mana is depleted completely , with some rest it will increase on its own .
Other than that the system has become less and less cooperative, at first it showed her the race and level of the creatures she encountered sometime even giving some information about it but after the test there were nothing, no reaction , beside her status window , and explanations of her mastery skills , it didn't respond , perhaps it was just helping Melanie to get used to the environment, but now that her level increased , it wants her to discover it herself .
Thousand Beast Forest has its special ecosystem ,in just one day Melanie had already encountered many peculiar phenomena , the hot summer weather in the morning and a cold winter in the afternoon , lake that create illusions, big ferocious bees ,moving mud ,quicksands ,plant eating-man , even flowers unleashed a toxic scent, however, for undead who don't need to breath to survive, it has no effect. What truly displeased Melanie about this environment is the bloody rain, a normal rain but the water is colored blood-red, her clothes are already old and tattered with some cuts created while fighting , she doesn't want them to be dried red , thus each time it would be a bloody rain she must hide in one of the caves.
While the group was exploring the forest slaughtering any beast that came on their way, at the top of one of the small mountains, three beasts are having a heated argument.
"Is something going wrong with your mind?" An angry big monkey said furiously, he has a large muscular body , a red fur and two horns on his head , on his back two big shiny swords "Why should I wait when I could easily kill those parasites?"
"We can't act rashly, we must inform our leader first before taking any action" A two meters browned eagle with golden eyes rebutted.
"Our leader has entrusted us with the forest before he went to deal with the thing in the east, we are able to take our own decisions, and there is no need to disturb the leader" A lazy looking big azure wolf said indifferently.
"Dred is right, it's a personal matter between me and the intruder, the leader has nothing to do with this, or do you attend to stop me from taking revenge?"
"I won't stop you, I just want you to wait for some days until we gather some more information about him, why take acting so rashly we don't know anything about this newcomer and his abilities".
"I don't care who he is, he came to make trouble in our territory then he must pay , if it were your gold eyed eagles' tribe who got killed by this bastard won't you go immediately to slaughter him?"
The eagle didn't replay even though he now clearly the answer, if someone dares to touch his tribe, he wouldn't be able to stand still for the time of an investigation.
The big monkey chuckled" Heh ,You see , even you , you won't be able to rest calm in my situation, then it decided , I will deal with him personally , I will hang his head at the entrance of the forest , as a warning for those small foxes who dare to come in our territory" a murderous aura enveloped the monkey whole body, his bloody eyes radiated with the desire of revenge , but before leaving ,he threw a threatened glance to the other two as a warning " Don't ever think about stealing my pray, he is mine" As he said that , he leaped from the top of the mountain ,landed heavily on the ground creating a big hole . With a smile , he run toward the west, his figure slowly disappeared behind the trees .
"Then, it settled, relax Ray, this intruder came from the outer land, his level should be less than level 23, any one of us would be enough to kill him in one hit, if I must be worried about something, it would be that Gorden would destroy half of the forest before his anger got appeased "Dred turned around and left.
Only the eagle remained, Ray looked at the direction Gorden was heading to, with a worried expression" I got the feeling that a very big change would occur in the Lost Land…or perhaps I start to be a little paranoid" with this last sentence, the eagle opened his long wings and flow toward the west.

After killing another gigantic bear, Melanie reached level 23, and a new notification from the system appeared.

A new window appeared, this time there were three choices in it, displaying the three professions .
(1. SoulSlayer: Master of souls; Abilities: Souls view, Souls detection.
2. Mage: Elements perfect user; Abilities: Mana conjuration, Infinity development.
3. Warlocker: Underling of the Demonic God; Abilities: Trap-maker, Demonic Energy.
Time to make a choice , Melanie was hesitant , she first dismissed the Warlocker profession , its description didn't really match her, being someone else underling even if it was just in name it makes her uncomfortable , Mage was her best option , even though she was curious about the Soulslayer, and she felt like it would be very helpful for her , if she chose the first , there would be a possibility of losing her affinities , like Bob who at first was able to use darkness infinity in fights , but after choosing to be a Necromancer , all he could do with his mana is reviving the dead .
[Bob, beside Mage , do all the other profession make you unable to use your affinities as you please?]
The robed skeleton was stunned, he understood now why Melanie stopped moving all of a sudden, it's because she was picking her future profession.
"I don't know ,it may be the case or perhaps not, but don't compare yourself with me , your element is special ,you can get any infinity you want ,I have only the darkness infinity , in my opinion ,the chance of you loosing this incredible ability is low "
[I got the Mage and Soulslayer profession, which should I pick?]
"Mage is the safest option , you would be able to use all your affinities, Soulslayer is probably related to your race , perhaps it won't restrict you from using mana "Bob was pleased that Melanie asked him for his help in choosing a profession ,thus , he honestly gave her his opinion "There are only uncertainties , we are not sure about anything , we can spend a whole month discussing the matter , just calm down , stop hesitating and pick the profession that you feel it suit you the most "
Bob wasn't wrong, it's an important decision which can't be changed, and that what make it such a headache .Melanie chose to follow her intuition, whatever happened after , she will take it head on , and do her best to survive in this world .

As the system gave its confirmation, Melanie used her mana to control a nearby tree root which immediately moved in response .Her infinities are still there, she is able to use them like before.
"See, I was right" said Bob all proud of himself.
When Melanie glanced at him , there were something that changed ,she saw a white shiny tiny sphere just in the middle of his chest , it was his soul , her newly acquired ability Soul view , allow her to see others souls . In other hand, Soul detection , make her able to sense the surrounding creatures , if she focuses enough on it , she would be able to visualize their souls and detect their location . She was quite satisfied ,SoulSlayer profession was much useful than she thought .
