Chapter 278 - Merchant chapter 263

""That's so cool!"" a bunch of them exclaimed.

"It was quite fast too." Felicia said intrigued.

"I can't really show the full speed indoors. That was me going slowly." I say honestly.

"THAT was slow!? Your fast has to be ludicrous!" the boy said excitedly.

"Fast as lightning." I reply with a shrug.

They were all thoroughly impressed by this and we chatted about it for the rest of the evening until dinner. The novelty of the magic wore off quick though when I mentioned the cost I paid for it. The lie I mean, not the devil fruit truth.-

I was a little naïve to consider bringing devil fruits to this world originally. Then again I didn't exactly have any real experience as a merchant at that time so honest if silly mistakes like that were to be expected. After doing this for about a year now though I'd learned my lesson. Cross world contamination was not something I wanted here. At least not yet or with these specific ones. Bits and pieces of small things sure. Like a bit of the technology I'd ripped off from Remnant. The scrolls I looted from those illegal sap collectors for example.-

Right now was the early growing days of the internet and computers so scrolls would push it forward by a few decades without directly touching most other things. David had already gone ahead and taken the things apart to figure out how they worked and how they were made. Beyond the hard light screen projector the things weren't actually all that different from a cell phone back before I died on that other Earth. At least in terms of mechanics and functions. The tricky part was figuring out how to create them without the hard light projectors since that had other undesirable applications I didn't want the muggles getting.-

David had made good progress on his end to this regard actually as his world already had things of a similar nature to smartphones. Honestly it was a good deal for both of us. He got hard light projection technology and I got that plus the manufacturing process and code for a slightly more advanced cellphone and server. Would this expose wizards to the muggle world a lot sooner? Yes it would. That was the goal even.-

With Salem here now and learning at a breakneck pace I was not overly concerned about a muggle-wizard war. Not to mention myself and the anomalous being I've become. In terms of sheer power and versatility I was easily neck and neck with Salem and Dumbledore at the moment. After all I had the magic of Spira, here and Remnant along with haki, aura and a devil fruit. That didn't even account for the one piece physique that I was steadily refining to superhuman levels alone. There was a downside to spreading myself so thin though, I wasn't a master at any of it.-

I was working on my magical skill constantly but as a knowledge based power system there was only so fast I could grow it. Right now I sat right around where Snape was which while quite good was a step below the level of the real masters like Voldemort, Flammel and Grindelwald. Anyways I got a little off topic there. As I was saying cross contamination of worlds had to be done in a specific manner rather than with things that completely change everything. My original idea to use devil fruits to get the knowledge the pureblood families have hoarded was simply too short sighted. I could just wait until they started looking for a powerful figure to stand behind for protection and reap the benefits.-

Anyways over the next few days I attended each of the classes that were taught at this school for second years. And at the final day I determined that the overall education was roughly above that of Hogwarts. Not head and shoulders but there was a decisive gap. Beauxbatons didn't have the fragmentary DADA professor problem Hogwarts did and the history professor was considerably better. The other classes were slightly below the standard of Hogwarts though so the actual difference this made wasn't massive. -

If I had to rate actual school life though I had to give it to Beauxbatons hands down as the better school and it wasn't even close. There was no houses, the purebloods here weren't insufferable and the school itself wasn't even half as confusing to move through. Sure Hogwarts had it's own charm but as far as ease of living went Beauxbatons was it. I had in this time ended up forming a bit of a group with Felicia and a spanish girl named Sofia De Leon who was a descendant of Ponce De Leon.-

The group dynamic was quite cozy really as Felicia was sort of the Hermione of the group that nearly always had her nose in a book and studied well beyond the majority of her peers. Sofia was a lot more soft spoken and proper like one would expect of an aristocratic young lady. Then there was me who sat in the weird middle as the mix of bookish and casual. It was an odd dynamic but it worked surprisingly well.
