Chapter 273 - Merchant chapter 258

"How can you even eat that much? You physically shouldn't be capable of it." One of the nearby older students asked as the curiosity got too great.

I paused and wiped my mouth with a napkin before answering.

"My body is a bit special. I require far more calories than normal but in exchange my body is far stronger than it appears." I explained before rolling up the sleeve of my coat and undershirt to reveal the bandaged arm that flexed highly defined muscles.

This sent a wave of whispers through the dining hall. Many weren't even about my highly abnormal musculature but rather the silk bandages that covered my hands and arms up to my elbow. It was made pretty obvious that between them and my eyepatch I had sustained some form of severe injury. Naturally they were curious about it. None openly asked me however as they assumed it was a deeply personal topic and pressing it would be rude. It wasn't of course but they had no way of knowing it and I certainly wasn't going to explain it. Speaking of my dead eye I could have replaced it with life alchemy quite easily by this point. -

Swapping body parts was the simplest form of the alchemy after all and Flammel had offered it himself. I declined because if I was going to do that I didn't merely want a simple replacement but an upgrade. Unfortunately while magic eyes were quite a common trope I had yet to contact a world with any. My hope was to eventually contact the world of Legend of legendary heroes and through that acquire the Stigma. Most people jump to the sharingan or rinnegan of the Naruto world but that would also require me to get the bloodline and chakra system of world. -

As if that weren't bad enough the eye constantly drained the energy of the user at a monstrous rate. By comparison the Stigma was a far better choice. Not only was it innately magical in nature but came in different varieties that I theorized could be fused into a supreme eye. Six variations specifically. The Alpha, The wise eye that allows the analysis and comprehension of all magic. The Lion Doue, The man eating eyes that allow the absorption of energy and rejuvenation from the consumption of human flesh. The Ebra Crypt, The dream sight eyes that allow the holder to view and manipulate dreams.-

The torch curse, The seers eye that stop the development of the body and physically harms the user the more they are used. This eye grants the ability to see the future but can blind the user and slowly dye their hair purple from temporal contamination. The Will Heim, The eyes of envy that make the bearer develop inferiority complexes if they ever doubt themselves. The eyes allows the user to analyze the strength and weakness of whomever they see. The inferiority complex can develop if these strengths exceed the users own. Finally the Tear stigma that only existed in the incarnation of the conceptual entity known as "the Lonesome demon".-

It's effect is nearly identical to the Alpha stigma but amplified by many folds. Naturally something so useful and powerful comes with it's own downside. The collapse of the bearer. A state in which the extreme negative emotions of the one with the Stigma cause it's power to go on a rampage that looks eerily similar to demonic possession as the personalities of the stigma are all murderously violent and arrogant. Without extreme negative stimulus however the eyes are just tools of great potential.-

From an outside perspective I theorized that the ones born with these Stigma have magical binding vows woven into their eyes that cause them to suffer split personality disorder tied to their emotional state and eyes. This is why you can end a rampage by physically closing the eyes of the bearer. The act of closing ones eyes pushes the personality back into it's cage until the next time the bearers emotions fluctuate negatively. Since my own ambition was to stack as much magic as possible onto myself these eyes would be ideal for this purpose.-

Moving on from my own eye plans the rest of breakfast went as expected with the bolder of the students asking me questions while those of the more timid variety listened in. After breakfast came the first class of the day that genuinely surprised me, History. Taught by none other than the same Professor Andros who I met over my winter break visit. -

"Ah, If it isn't the young Drake himself! I'll have you know I have tried my best to trace our Sir Francis's line forward from him. The record keeping of that era was not the best preserved you understand so it's proving a challenge but I'm confident that I draw closer yet to answering whether or not you truly do carry his bloodline." the man said eagerly.

"What do you get out of doing this? There is no profit in knowing such a thing." I asked curiously.

"But that is where you are wrong! It is enough to know that even if he himself did not possess magic our Sir Drake's line did eventually hold a wizard who came to this very school where his portrait sits to learn. The sheer historical coincidence is priceless." he said seriously.
