Chapter 264 - Merchant chapter 249

"You don't have to answer right now. Take some time to consider it deeply. That said we can still do business at this moment. Your world has several items that I would be very interested in having. Before that can you tell me what your world progressions is at? Has the first bell been rung? the second? Have you been to the capital yet?" I asked seriously.

"Hmm? In truth I have only just arrived in Lordran. I was merely basking in the incandescent glory of the sun when you appeared." he said warmly.

"I see. In that case there is a crystal lizard nearby I would like if you could be willing to help me retrieve it. It's across the pathway that leads to the tower to the lower burg. Specifically hiding in the crates just before the doorway in fact. Most in your world would kill them for the rare twinkling titanite growing from them. But I find that such a waste and would like to save it and any others you come across from that fate." I say seriously.

"Truly? What a curious request. As you have stated plainly most would slay the beasts. Hohoho! I would be quite intrigued to see what becomes of this matter. I shall capture the beast as you wish." He said with a cheerful laugh.

I sent him two hundred system coins and told him how to contact me and trade over things as well as the parameters for what could be traded. He seemed quite impressed with the idea and what all it extended to. Naturally I also promised appropriate payment for whatever he was willing to trade. He had miracles and sorcery abilities he was willing to trade for a few souls of apostles from my store of them but otherwise nothing else really. -

Looking over the appraisals of the two ability stones I could only sigh.

{Item name: Miracle potential

Class: Ability

Value: 50,000 system coins

Condition: N/A

Description: An innate trait possessed by all people of the Dark souls world. This ability grants it's holder a seed of divinity that when watered with faith allows the casting of miracles. The stronger the faith the more potent the power of the miracle. }

{Item name: Sorcery potential

Class: Ability

Value: 50,000 system coins

Condition: N/A

Description: An innate trait possessed by all people of the Dark souls world. Allows the channeling of ones soul and mind into the casting of spells. The stronger the mind and understanding the more potent the spells. }

Neither of them surprised me. Miracles thought to be the power of the gods were in fact just another type of magic cast using a different medium. If anything it actually sort of reminded me of the Orks of the Warhammer universe. The species possessed the unusual trait of being able to warp reality through collective belief. Not massively mind you but enough that things that shouldn't normally work do and things that don't work like that also do.-

For example the Orks all collectively believe that anything painted red moves faster than anything not. Logically that's ridiculous but because of their faith based power it actually works. Miracles were the same apparently. It was a literally case of creating power from nothing but ones own belief. It basically got folded into my haki as a result as the two systems of power were unsurprisingly VERY compatible. The sorcery potential was on the other hand innately unfair. It was effectively hard capped to your own ability to understand things. This meant the average person would get basically nowhere with the system.-

It was a tool for geniuses or cheaters basically.

Despite their flaws they were both new systems of power for me and thus were integrated before the contact even ended. As it did though Luna paused in her reading to look at me oddly for a moment before going back to it. She was always depicted as unusually sensitive to things that others weren't so I wouldn't be surprised if she felt my power shift from the two new systems added to me.-

The seed of divinity immediately showed it's use as my passive observation grew almost to the point of near omniscience in an area of several kilometers. To put it bluntly the miracle effect of the seed was apparently getting added to my haki making it ridiculously powerful. This was bittersweet news to me because better haki is obviously a good thing. But the bitter part was my mind couldn't process so much information at once very well, forcing me to shrink my range to only two hundred meters. The level of detail had grown to such a point I could count the pores on someone's body if they were in this range.-

The odd part though was that there was no drain to this sudden hike in potency. The self belief innate with haki was feeding the seed of divinity that was in turn making my haki stronger in a virtuous cycle that paid for itself. This interaction further solidified my belief that given enough time and the right worlds I could not only take the role of a god but perhaps something even further.
