Chapter 24 - Old Friend

She woke up a few hours later but still he did not come.

Some of the nurses would come in every now and again and she'd talk to them a bit. However, she spent most of her time alone.

Suddenly, she heard a knock on the window. She looked and saw a woman banging on it.

Was that...An Bao?

The woman entered the room and stood at the door with a shocked look on her face.

"Oh my is it really you?!" She shrieked.

Of course it was actually An Bao, the loudmouth.

An Bao rushed towards her and grabbed her hands.

"Do you remember! It's me An Bao from high school."

Li Hua smiled, "How could I forget?"

An Bao set her bag down and sat in the chair near the hospital bed.

"It's been so long! How have you been? I was so shocked when I found out you left!"

Li Hua wanted to reply but An Bao kept talking.

"You look so good! Even more prettier than I remember, why are you in the hospital?"

"I was in a little accident and injured my ankle. Nothing to serious."

It was nice to have someone to talk to but god did this girl talk a lot.

Her and An Bao talked a bit more. Turns out An Bao's aunt was sick recently and had been hospitalized. So she was her to visit her. She wanted to talk more but An Bao had somewhere to be. They exchanged numbers and she left.

"Promise to call me okay!"

"Promise" Li Hua weakly replied

Once again alone she looked out the window. It had grown dark. The whole day had gone by and Su LingTian hadn't showed up.

'Maybe he was busy?'

She frowned to herself. Why was she so concerned about his whereabouts. He was a grown man who had his own things to attend to. Why would he be worried about her? He was probably out with some secret lover or something.

She put her head on her hand. She was overthinking.

If he came he came and if he didn't oh well.

She pulled the covers over her and went to sleep.

~~~
Su LingTian looked out the window. He stopped by the hospital on his way to work to bring Li Hua food. However, she was deep in sleep!
He didn't want to wake her so he quietly left the food with a note. He'd just have to come by later.
Work was surprisingly hectic today. He had a surprise meeting with the chairman and a ton of paperwork had come in. He was working hard to be able to leave but had another surprise.
"Mr. Li a woman is here to see you."
Woman? He wasn't expecting anyone. Especially not a woman.
Opening the door was a young lady. She seemed to be in her early 20's and was quite beautiful. She had chestnut hair and bright eyes. However, he didn't care. She was interrupting him.
"Hello Mr. Su. My name is Jia Yi."
"Yes. What is the issue?"
Hearing this she slightly frowned. She heard that he was a little more on the dull side but even a dull man talked to her with a little more kindness.
"Um....well." She looked down and brought her hands forward.
"I thought you'd like to have lunch with me?" In her hands was a cute little bag supposedly filled with food.
"I made it all myself!"
Now he was really confused. Who did she think she was to arrive unannounced and say such things?
"Excuse me are you an employee here?"
Jia Yi was taken aback. She? An Employee?!
"No sir. I was sent her by Ms. Su to meet you!" She tensely smiled
Ms. Su? His mother? Suddenly it dawned on him. No wonder she was able to get into his office.
"Ms. Su thought it'd be best if you didn't know."
Of course she did. His parents had recently been badgering him about getting married. He'd shoot them down every time. I guess this was their next attempt.
"I'm sorry for you to have come all this way, but I have no intention of eating lunch or following through with anything my mothers told you."
Jia Yi was once again taken aback. She couldn't believe it. No man had ever turned her down before.
"But-"
"Please leave before I call someone to escort you myself."
She threw the bag on the ground and turned around to leave. Slamming the door behind her.
He wanted to continue working but the smell of cheap perfume lingered in the room. He sighed as he opened a window.
Perfume seriously gave him a headache, especially strong scents like the one Jia Yi wore. He wouldn't be able to work like this.
He looked at the time. It was already 5 pm. He'd have to stay later then he thought. No matter what he wanted to see her today. Even if it meant working harder.
Finally the smell had disappeared and he was about to sit down when his door was opened again.
Assistant Jiang walked in.
"We have an issue sir."
Su LingTian felt like he was going to explode.
"What is it now?"
"I may or may not have told your mother that you have a partner already."
Silence filled the room. No one moved for a few seconds. Assistant Jiangs eyes refused to meet Su LingTians.
"You did WHAT?"
"I may have said she was your fiancé aswell...."
Su LingTian almost dropped his coffee.
