Joan Harry knew there was nothing to say to a man like this, so she just said calmly, "I want to leave the hospital today."
"You don't look very well. Let's talk tomorrow." Jesse Rowan lay on her shoulder, not letting go.
He seemed to particularly enjoy the scent of Joan Harry, a faint fragrance that he could smell even with the strong medicinal odor of the hospital.
"Oh." Joan Harry didn't argue with him, "After I leave the hospital, I'm going to find a job."
"Can't I support you?"
"I don't want you to support me." She wouldn't take his money either.
"I want to support you; I have more money than I can spend."
"You can consider supporting other women, but I don't need your support."
Jesse Rowan furrowed his brow, impatiently, "I want to support you, so what. You're not allowed to work, and even if you do, you can only work at the Rowan Family as my secretary."
"Stop being unreasonable!" Of course, Joan Harry didn't want to be his secretary.
