She stumbled unsteadily and fell into his arms.
Joan Harry was much shorter than him, and it hardly took any effort for him to wrap her in his embrace.
"You seldom smile, and when you're upset, you always have a frown on your face," Jesse Rowan wrapped his arms around her waist, his fingers twining through her hair, "I don't like women who frown all the time, you know."
Jesse Rowan's tone was both tender and affectionate, with no hint of dissatisfaction.

"Why are you picking a fight with me just because I said a couple of words? Do you think I'll let it slide just because I never quarrel with women?" Jesse Rowan lowered his head, inhaling the fresh scent of her hair, "It's okay, I'm patient and won't quibble with you."
