The next morning, Jasmine Yale woke up early, lying in the crook of Sylvan Cheney's arm.
"Can I go to the supermarket with Butler Santana today?" Jasmine cautiously asked.
She knew he didn't allow her to go out, although he never told her why.
But she never did the things he disliked, because it would make him unhappy, very unhappy.
"No."
"Can I just stay in the car without getting out if Butler Santana drives?"
"..."
"Is that okay?" Jasmine softly coaxed him, her little head resting on his chest, with her fair fingers drawing circles on his chest, "It would be nice to see the skyscrapers and the crowd."
She truly was getting stifled staying at home.
"Didn't I just let you out yesterday?"
"Oh, then nevermind." Jasmine didn't insist further, "You go to work, I'll go back to sleep."
Jasmine let go of his embrace, scooted to the side, and closed her eyes to continue sleeping.
The morning sun rose outside the window, the sky a bright color.
