Every step felt like a march to his demise. The hallway they walked through was gigantic filled with paintings and expensive items from all over. Gold trimming covered the white pristine wall. Echoes of there feet danced on the walls as they took each step. On the outside shadow looked as confident as can be but on the inside he was screaming with worry. Seeing his mother personally had only ever happened one time before and that was because he had accidentally seen her in the garden. He knew there was nothing to do to hide his dark magic. She would turn him into his father and use him as a weapon. He would be trapped into serving her. The only reason she didn't contract him now was because it used valuable mana but if he was useful she wouldn't flinch to use the spell or kill him. " Lucifer....."
"Yes there is way to do it but I'll need time to prepare myself keep quiet."
"I didn't tell you what I wanted yet though"
"You want me to somehow hide that you can use dark magic right. If I'm right keep quiet hiding your magic is relatively not that hard but this magic is extremely potent. Your potential with it is probably leaps and bounds over your father. Actually over any I have ever been in by a large margin. For the rest of the time I'll need to concentrate so stop thinking or at least control it to your very inner thoughts so I can't hear."
Shadow felt relieved that he had the demon now. Even though it was so headstrong and he still felt like he really had no privacy. They were finally outside the doors of the throne room. The doors were pure gold and big enough for giants to walk in with one lion popping out each door. The doors opened as they got there revealing the gold and red throne room. Statues lined the wall as so did paintings of past wars with other kingdoms. About 20 or more elite queen guards were in the room along with the queen's favorite minister Doja. She stood to the right of the queen glaring at shadow and his master. All shadow could feel was the heavy weight of the queen's presence. It weighed down the whole room as if she was making it known that this was her domain but she sat there with a pearly smile as if to say all our welcome. Him and his master bowed while waiting to be directed.
"It has been brought to my attention that you may be a sage. So I have brought you here to check for myself. You'll be using a higher orb it's almost impossible to break with potent magic. It does cost a lot though but anything for my son right." Shadow could tell she didn't truly mean it but could only reply with "yes my queen."
One of the guards brought over the orb to him with such a careful aura as if he was carrying a newborn child. The orb had runes etched into it. Even though this was the first time he had seen them in person he could actually read it. The orb had protection from all elements and physical effects. No one had said anything after he had got the orb so he realized he was supposed to start. He then began concentrating.
"Hey Lucifer you're ready right."
"As ready as will be but I thought you should know.....
Out of nowhere the orb started flashing the different elements but this time each element he could feel the physical of it. He figured it was because it was a higher orb. This time once it got to the space element it began to distort more violently till it disappeared but he could still feel it. When it came back it was pile of dust. He looked up to see everyone in the room with looks of shock on their face. He was going to say sorry before the queen interrupted.
"All of his magic is potent and you wanted him to go slow. He will not study any fighting it must be magic. Even with potent magic it's not useful unless he studies to use it better. I've also noticed the he's already close to breaking through to the novice level. I don't know how you missed that but so far as his mentor you are failing me and by failing me you fail the kingdom. His master had been so quiet ever since he got there that he had forgot his master was there.
"I'm sorry your majesty but I've kept track maybe his potential has gotten better. He might be a late bloomer but trust me it won't happen again."
"I trust it won't. That being said the academy starts in about a month. I know it's unusual for a child to start so soon but I can't help but think it might be a waste if he doesn't. He'll stay on campus but you'll still privately train him when he's not in classes. If you can't then you know what will happen."
Shadow saw the strained face on his master wondering what it could be that had him so scared. He didn't seem the type that was scared of death. As he was bout to say something to Lucifer his mother had somehow traveled the room with a large sword aimed at his neck.
"When in the presence of me I want all attention. Not even your thoughts should have a place here. Remember that the next time child.
"Mother I understand that you want me to only learn magic but please even if it's only a couple hours out of the week I would like to learn a fighting style. Even if it's weak I don't care. I think I would be limited only by using magic. I mean no disrespect but please."
His mother looked at him with anger in her eyes as if she was gonna strike him down here and now.
"Fine but during the summer festival during the matches if you don't make top 5 you will have to give it up now leave me before I change my mind I have work to do."
